Don Waddell Steps Down.

I've always thought that Tulsky is the guy driving the analytics/signings and that Don is the iron out figurehead. I'm hoping Tulsky has been groomed and that the 'search' is a formality. I would be ok with hiring another figure above Tulsky but I'd rather Tulsky be GM than us lose him if we hire over him

I wonder if he had doubts about the coaching staff and after their contracts he decided to peace out.

His contract was done soon and he had already been giver permission to interview elsewhere.

My guess is this was an amicable parting of ways and it was his choice to go elsewhere.

It still doesnt make sense to me. Why go somewhere else when he can watch what he built here? Something doesnt feel right.

His contract was expiring, Dundon only pays a premium if he feels like you are the best at what you do and rumors are that Tulsky was the puppet master.

We had the talent to win a Cup, just not the coaching , the only thing Waddel is to blame for is not getting us a stable goalie

Unless Rod told him we didn't need one

I think Williams will basically replace Waddell in that role. Tulsky may get the title if he wants it. Can’t see us letting him go elsewhere and if we don’t make him GM he can go anywhere that will offer him a GM title/job.

realistically though, Tulsky is a dorky data guy. Extremely important to this front office, more so than Waddell IMO, but he’s not a people guy, negotiator, etc. that’ll be Willy, whatever the titles wind up being. Would be very surprised if we went outside the org to replace Don.

honestly I’ll miss Don, I don’t think this alters our trajectory whatsoever but I came to like him a lot here, as skeptical as I was at first

    • Damn Logan Jones had a good day too. Was high on him coming in as he anchored that top Iowa line and is a fire plug inside. He's gonna be 25 to start the season so maybe he slips into the 4th but I doubt it, even if C isn't a premium position. His play on the field was top notch and the combine boosted it again. Arm length is about the only knock. But guy is plug and play at C.   This is a loaded class at C. Need to grab one.
    • Bryce will be permanently replaced by a draft pick. There's not another Sam Darnold out there to save us. Tepper is going to see this throw because he dumped Mayfield and Darnold too soon. He's going to give it 1 more year before he will sign off on dumping another 1st round pick qb. Thats the cold hard truth of it. It doesn't mean we can't get younger and much better at the backup position.
    • Maybe I should have used a different word and saved that for me. I want someone that has something impressive about them.  Someone that has potential to supplant a guy who is producing 25th best type of numbers. 22nd, 27th all that bottom third neighborhood.  I don’t know where that will come from it just can’t be from even a 4th round pick this year IMO. Unless FA is crazy productive.    I’ll give Bryce a better than bottom rating for his playoff game. Well above low twenties. But at least half of his games were bottom third level. Probably 2/3 to 3/4 of them were.
