QB School, A Reminder of our 2023 Offense

With so much emphasis on the overhaul as it relates to the staff, and player personnel, I thought it would be a good time to reacclimate myself with the poo show that was our 2023 offense.

For those that blamed Bryce, and said he was horrible etc. take a moment to remind yourself how bad the offense was collectively.

Bryce has his items to improve, but those that blind hate on him, please educate yourself.

There are SEVERAL videos on our 2023 offense, 30 minute breakdowns.

Is this one of the ones where he doesn’t blame Young he blames about everyone else? That’s pretty much what I remember from those.

Since those problems are all addressed, allegedly, everything will be great I’m sure.

It's a chicken and egg thing. Is the offense bad because of the scheme/coaching or because of the players? When the offense was as bad as the 2023 Panthers, the answer was likely both. Good players can occasionally overcome bad coaching/scheme and vice versa good coaching/scheme can overcome bad players.

The truth is, Frank Reich's offense was total garbage AND the offense was devoid of talent.

No need to go backwards, 2024 is going to be bad too!

To have a true base of our 2023 offense as a reference so I can have an informed opinion on how far we've come as the pre-season / meaningful games begin once there's new tape to look at.

I'm not a fan of being an uneducated fan.

It's encouraging to see people are wanting to find the positives, but man, I'm tapped out trying to sift through anything from last year.

I'm not looking for positives per se, I don't want to forget just how bad schematically we were so that I can compare to 2024.

The offense was atrocious. Bryce himself sucked badly. Both things can be, and are, true.

Bryce has a lot he needed ro work on (my guy was AR15).

However, we have Bryce and I can admit he flashed plenty, and in some cases overcame the deficiencies and got in position to win games.

No QB was surviving what we put out there last year...saying he sucked with all the negatives around him goes a bit far.

It would be interesting to see someone breakdown how the falcons or saints defenses played BY/Reich vs Baker/Canales. If they were up on the line more for us because they weren't scared of anything deep, respected the run game more, etc.. I'm definitely not doing it.

    • I could be waaaaaaay off about Kon. I do fault myself into, to borrow a NFL phrase heavily "RAS" nerd on players, too much. There are PLENTY of athletic freak shows that are playing overseas(or Amazon delivery) cause they never figured out NBA ball. I can easily miss seeing the talent. Plus did he only have 2 dunks on the season??(is that for real??) I didn't watch over a few hours of duke, but not one point did I think "That Kon guy is a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft". IMO I still foresee Ball bringing the ball up, doing his weak isolation game and never even looking for Kon. That's his best trait according to everyone, shooting right? I do not see ball, bridges, miller or even williams making the extra pass to Kon for him to shoot a 3.  Then defense-wise, Im not ready to type the amount of questions I foresee in his ability for guarding NBA SGs or bench SFs for that matter. Not that NBA players care to defend, but still..... I just feel he's a bad fit for the current hornets, trades are taking place tho... Liam to me is a decent comp for Kon and he fell some, but was a 29 overall pick. Still around 13-21 was the good solid range for Liam and I thought the same for Kon. This is just a classic case of I need to see it. It add to this, Kon is like garlic. Ball is like sugar and Miller is like flour. Mix it together and chef Lee is not going to get me to eat that dish..... Honestly I don't know why Im this vocal about Kon. In past years I would be patience and not post and see what the kid has. The other side, insert classic white boy terms here- _____, ______, _______< etc >. Hornets do desperately need them. His crafty back door cuts, his willingness to stay a extra 2 hours to refine lees plays, keep playing with bruised limbs. I heard from many reports he's mentally tough and hornets by all gods need that. God they are such pussys.  I hope Im wrong and if so, I will give Kon his just props.
