I think Cam and Sanders are going to have to sit and reprogram themselves.  Both have just gotten way too use of holding the ball and thinking they are good athletes behind the LOS.  That might work in the BIG12 and ACC but it’s the recipe to get murdered in the NFL.

Both got the talent.  But talent ain’t enough.  see Caleb Williams.

Yeah neither of them are playing NFL ball IMO (getting it out quick and stepping up in the pocket). They both have a lot of talent and with the right staff around them could be great. I just wouldn’t feel comfortable drafting either in the top 10. It’s a weak draft from top 10 talent in general…

I’m kind of glad Bryce played better later in this year. As much as I like Cam Ward, I wouldn’t want to pick a QB in the top 10 this year. Next year’s class should be much better.

I'd be down for ward regardless. Yeah I agree there is better top end talent next year, but think the floor for ward is a starter. Idk if he's a top 5 guy for a decade, but he's gonna be a solid starter. Nothing in his college career says he can't be a mid level guy. From incarnate word, to Washington State to Miami, he just produced big time. Some huddlers were tapped in when he was still incarnate word, waiting for him to declare. Props to them, he looks the part every stop.

I totally agree and we might end up seeing players in the playoff going this route one day.  Maybe not but who knows.  If it was my kid and he was a possible top 20 pick no way in hell I want him to play.  Especially a non playoff bowl.  This is the rest of his life vs a meaningless game.

I think this era is going to produce business decision makers the likes we haven’t seen….and that means that will carry forward to the NFL.  I like my players like Cam Newton….trying to suit up after breaking his back the same week.   I didn’t want him to play then….but I liked they had to fight him not to play.   Dudes like Cam can carry and motivate a team beyond what they do on the field.  No NFL guys running through a brick wall for a lot of these new era guys IMO

I like Ward and his whole journey is pretty impressive. With that said very few QB prospects have a FLOOR as a mid tier starter. He has played against ACC and PAC 12 defenses and sure he lit them up, but it’s a lot different in the NFL. Plus there is a good chance he goes to a team with a bad OL and that wants him to play ASAP. Both are recipes for hurting a young QB’s development.

Miami is in for a rough season next year if they don't find a QB. I mean, they could see an FSU style fall off. Maybe not THAT bad but Cam Ward carried the fug out of that team.

We'll fire Guidry shortly (or let him find another job, as is Cristobal's way) and hire a new DC. There's a lot of talent on D, way more than those results would lead you to believe.

We need a QB in the Portal. We have a talented FR coming in, but Williams has just proven he isn't the guy next year. That's basically what we were looking at in the second half. Cristobal clearly didn't give two fugs about winning the game.

Season felt like it was just Ward and Restrepo playing catch as Miami gave up 2 billion points no matter the opponent

Ward is 'that dude' in that regard.

He didn't have to play today. Restrepo (a guy with far less to lose) sat out.

First day on campus he contacted all of his WRs and said "if you don't watch tape I'm not throwing you the ball". First play of practice he audibled a run play in to 4 verts and scored a 60 yard TD.

He's a leader and preternaturally calm. I question whether he has an accurate enough deep ball to be a great NFL QB, but he absolutely has the mental make up to be one.

Yeah, they will fade back to obscurity.  Sounds familiar to me and if Mack could have fielded a decent defense things could have been very different.  At least Belichick came from a defensive background.  Can’t lie I am very interested to see how this team looks next season.   UNC's 2025 football schedule:

  • Aug. 30: vs. TCU

  • Sept. 6: at Charlotte

  • Sept. 13: vs. Richmond

  • Sept. 20: at UCF

  • Date TBA: vs. Clemson

  • Date TBA: vs. Duke

  • Date TBA: vs. Stanford

  • Date TBA: vs. Virginia

  • Date TBA: at California

  • Date TBA: at N.C. State

  • Date TBA: at Syracuse

  • Date TBA: at Wake Forest

He played just to get his today.  Then sat.   That ain’t being that dude IMO.   Team had 20 pass yards in the second half.   That’s hanging the rest that helped him get his out to dry.  Just not my preference.  Just don’t play then.

I hate on Colorado a lot.  If those dudes actually finish the season as it sounds they will….I’ll give them props

No, he played because he wanted to finish the season with his guys.

Cristobal and Dawson pulled him at half time to get a look at Williams.

He wanted that record.  That’s why he played.  Everyone knows that.   He got it.   Then he sat.   That’s called an agreement.

if they wanted a good look at Williams…you just play him the full game and give him the reps.  Not insert a cold QB into an absurd shootout late.

I get it.  Like I said, I prefer the old approach.  Which basically applied in HS and will again in the NFL.   I think a bunch of these college bounce around kids are red flags waiting to happen.   Again, not wanting that convo to be just about Cam.  It’s bigger than Cam.  I still think it’s whack sitting him midway in a shootout.

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
