Really not understanding the Sanders hype, especially after that Nebraska game. Dude threw a pick 6 untouched, left the game early and then threw his OL under the bus in the press conference, like ?????

did Colorodos line play well? No, but the dude is red flag galore.

I just don't see that. With the likes of CMC, Barkley and perhaps a few others---and even looking historically at many guys like LT and Sweetness, a prolific three-down RB is important. If a franchise can't maximize those types of skills and parlay that into a chip, that's a team problem. And, yes, I think that Brooks has that type of upside.

RB is one of the least valuable positions in the modern era NFL. The market and draft basically shows that year in and year out. The track record for mega-contracts over the last 10 years is horrifying. Same with first round RB's.

It's not fans saying that, it's most of the 32 franchises in the NFL and their actions.

That press conference was rough. He gets away with it now since his dad is the coach but wait until he throws pros under the bus…

More college hype. That's how we got Young. It's just easier to see when it's an attitude problem that stands out like that.

And yet teams still draft RBs fairly highly all the time. It just depends on the player. If Brooks hadn't torn his ACL, he was likely going to be drafted in the first round as opposed to the second. 

Teams are reluctant to pay for RBs  because they get hurt a lot, not because they don't have inherent  value. Sure, the modern NFL puts passing at a premium, but versatile three-down backs are still valued. Sure, mobile and running QBs can take some of the pressure off of the need for star backs, but then the risk to the QB is magnified exponentially, even having possible career-ending implications, so I think that shrewd FOs realize the importance of having legit three-down backs.

Yep ahah.  And now CMC is ironman all the sudden when he gets on a competitive team.  Burns is the only one that should have been traded.

CMC was banged up for the 49ers 1st game this year, he held himself out of practice the day before I think they said. He is a stud but he does get dinged up often.

I agree about Burns but then Tepper has to fire Rhule after year 2 or it wouldn't matter anyways with how that crew used him.

We never knew how good we had it with JR.  Hell, I even miss Hurney at this point.  Thats sad.

Meh JR had his positives but he also was a tightwad that made his team practice in a hotel ballroom in the playoffs.

Tepper makes most owners of professional sports look good. He is in Snyder zone without the non-football issues which is amazing really. 

I'm not missing JR, I'm missing the owner we never had yet.

I think the Lions would disagree with you on that. They won their game in OT last night with Montgomery running out of his mind. That was a hell of a game. But I do agree in principle that the RB position has become devalued in recent years. But the position itself is crucial to success and having a Montgomery on your team at a cheap contract cannot be underestimated.

      The "now it's been three years" Grade for the 2023 Draft

      Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
