Nope, completely disagree. I liked staying aggressive. Sure, the saints scored again but you have to have the attitude that we’re going to keep trying. Giving up is loser Rivera ball. We weren’t winning that game no matter what. Show the other 51 guys on the team that you still believe in them and once we get a QB we can make things like that work.

"Loser" Rivera ball was a damn sight better than what we've had since we jettisoned him.

We have had the softest, wimpiest team in the league since. Not saying bring Rivera back, but we need someone who can teach a team to push the other guys around, not just hand over their lunch and girlfriends by midway through the first quarter.

Sure, but pushing guys around has nothing to do with giving up before halftime.  Ron might have given off that “hard ass vibe” but as a coach he was a scared, soft, wimp.

It has everything to do with giving up before halftime. They'd whipped us within the first five minutes of the game and just proceeded to do whatever they wanted to to us.

We knuckled under sooo fast. Just no grit, none at all.

I'd argue in a QB league, QB being the most impactful spot, that a vet Teddy Bridgewater as your starting QB provides much more consistency for an offense than Kyle Allen.  That's a pretty big difference.

and like I said, I think Wilks at the end sort of confirms it all

Ron gets way too much hate.  A flawed coach that underachieved big picture but he is better than this slop we have been going through.  Ron brought a certain level of competency and accountability IMO we haven't seen since.

I’ll never have anything but hate in my heart for Rivera. Even putting aside the self admitted throwing players under the bus and not having their backs, the comments about how he’d be trying to injure Cam, standing by idly while refs allowed it, and the stupid tie incident…setting ALL of that aside, he should have delivered at least one out more like two or three rings with that roster. Cam, Olsen, Luke, TD, Star, KK, Hardy, CJ, Norman, we’ll probably never have a roster that stacked again.

The 2019 D was SOFT. Guys just out there getting sacks and avoiding any run responsibilities.

Rivera had issues but he also had positives. I still don't think this team has had a great GM or HC yet.

You misunderstand. Rivera would have given up before halftime and just taken knees. Canales didn’t. We DIDNT just give up before halftime on Sunday. Canales and the rest of the players couldn’t help that Bryce was sabotaging the team.

I just know what I'm seeing now. There ain't no fight in the whole team. And if you're looking for a QB to put that back in them, then we don't have that guy. Not at all.

Do we have a coach that can do it? Not sure. He needs to find it.

They looked flat and defeated on the first snap of the game.  Usually a new coach gets a free pop for a game or two.

Been preaching this for multiple years now. We are the new Browns.

Literally every sign from that 1999-2017 run of misery is there. Worst part is that our 2018-2023 is actually worse than that era started our for them.

Buckle your seat belts, boys. It's gonna be a rough remainder of this decade.

Yea when the other QB is just lighting it up for a different perpetually shart team it makes it feel real gud huh lol. Like ffs we went with "character" instead of talent. Character can't win games and these days with 100s of millions of dollars at stake these kids aren't doing dumb arsed poo like back in the day if it was ever even a big deal which it wasn't.

People aren't going to want to hear this but character concerns just means the black QB isn't acting white and the good character black qbs are acting white as they like. That's real

No one in the locker room gives af about if Cam or whoever else stole a fukin laptop or anything else for that matter lol. Stuff like that like huh we trying to win games and make that money and you over here talking about petty theft.

I agree. Think of it this way, a coach goes for it on a fourth down.  He doesn’t make first down.  Is he the hero or the goat.

There are other factors to consider.  Knowing when to hold them and went to fold them.  In other words, what kind of message are you sending to the other team?  What kind of message are you sending to your team?

these are factors that a coach has to consider when he makes a decision. This is why you want an experienced coach who has been in the situations.

if he goes for it on fourth down and makes it he is the hero. If he goes for it and doesn’t make the first down people will be very critical.

I don't think that applies because CJ didn't  have any character concerns I am aware of.

I think it was just the difference of how polished and "corporate" Bryce seemed.

Right. This owner doesn't deserve any support this is total ineptitude.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
