Positive signs from Bryce

The offense players are pro guys. Good OL, good RB, when they play, AT and DJ are good.the first two weeks Bryce had no excuse.

Are they really good, or just good in comparison to the rest of the team? And I'm really wondering myself about this. The o-line? Seems better than before, but think of how bad we've been over the years... getting better has happened, but we may still be way below the mid-mark of quality for the NFL.

Chuba looks good, yeah, but that's it. Sanders is well, miniscule and not very helpful, and our great hope is well, coming off of knee surgery and has yet to play a snap in the NFL. Thielen is a good possession receiver but let's face it, if your best WR is a 33 year old dude, then you don't have a long term plan. And DJ, well, he'll probably be the second DJ WR we trade away for beans.

This is a badly built team that is playing at league worst levels. It's badly coached, badly managed and badly motivated. It's time to blow this one up and restart from the beginning.

And while I can't put all the blame on PeeWee Young, I can say he's the big glaring sign of how bad we have become.

I just said RB not RBs bc chubba is good. I’m not disagreeing the team is built like crap. But this offense has some talent (if healthy). This is the best OL we’ve had in quite some time, Johnson’s is a good wr regardless if we trade him or not. AT may be 33 but he’s still got some left in the tank. Yeah, they could be better, but the offense should be performing better than what they are. Young and Dalton both suck, that position is what is setting the offense back

I can always appreciate optimism from a fellow fan. I enjoyed seeing some of the young players get involved. Really thrilled with Coker/XL.

However I have totally given up on Bryce. One TD was a short field and the other was garbage time. The Broncos were never in danger of losing the game. Felt like a shutout.

You can say whatever you want. The facts are facts. He got the same amount of quarters against a Broncos defense that every other QB did this year and did what no other QB has done at this point while working with less. That is a fact. Gotta give some credit to him for that regardless how you feel about his prospects going forward. If not it’s just hate.

I'm confused, what did he do that no other QB has done to this point this year?  What am I missing?  Certainly hasn't scored the most points against this D, hasn't thrown or rushed for the most yards against this D.  Didn't even do the bad things more, which is good I guess, than any other QB, Minshew ties him in interceptions with 2 against this D.

75% of his yards came after we were down 28-7. He gets no credit for garbage time yards.

Is he (Ace) talking about yards?  Herbert had more yards than Young @237, I'm still looking but there is no metric I can find where Bryce Young has done anything against this team that no other QB to date has done.

And you're right, if you take out the first scripted series and the 98 yard drive at the end, which in fairness you can't because they count, he would have had the lowest passing yards against them and it wasn't close.

Bryce is the first to do it while being short.

    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
    • I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce
