Maybe but to only move up about 10 spots?

It is what it is. We probably came to the market late(likely after this week's game), asked more than reasonable market value or just generally didn't read the room as quickly as we should have.

It's partly a franchise blunder and partly just the market dynamics.

Of all the things to fret over with this franchise, this really isn't one of them, IMO.

Speaking of comp pics i dont know the formula but wouldnt if panthers let him play out this year he sign a nice contract wuth another team end of season wouldnt they get a 3 to 5th withiut having to give up anything?

Yes.

*But if he signed for like 3 years 66 million and the Panthers signed some player at a similar contract, its a wash. It also depends on snap counts and if the player makes all-pro/pro bowl/ etc. Like you said its complicated. FYI the best teams at gaining comp picks is the ravens.

Lastly if you wait until June 1st to sign players, those don't count against the comp formula. There is one guy that has a 95% success rate at predicting the comp picks, he's at over-the-cap and money in the bank about comp pick for the last few years.

That was my other beef with this trade, even the chance at a 3rd or 5th comp is much better than the crap pile Morgan got.

Well you can bet Diontae's agent was burning up some phone minutes and people knew he wasn't staying.

That's it, the way the game is played if they know there is trouble between the team and the player you get less.

For, me I thought it was worth it just to give Young all these options and weapons and prove what was or was not.

If they are waffling on that poo now still haven't made up their minds, it was a waste of resources.

I think the problem here is that we aren't going to have the luxury of standing pat in free agency to generate a potential Day 2 or Day 3 pick. We have far too many holes in the roster to just sit on our hands.

The Ravens are a great example of having the luxury to met guys walk because ywar in and year out they are not only stacked with talent but manage to identify even more in the draft.

We should get much better at compensatory picks and that system but we have to really build this roster up first.

We don't have the cap space to be making big moves

You are right, no chance the Panthers with the worst record and least talent can sit idle during FA period. Still better than what the ravens gave up.......

I don't think he was worth what people think here.

That may be true, but we sent a 6th. We couldn't even get a 5th outright? It's just the principle. A 5th is bad enough as far as I'm concerned. I thought we'd get a fourth, but whatever.

The kicker is its a ravens 5th, so it should in the 160 range. For panthers 6th, that should be in 170 range....... so 10-20 spots in late 5th round, where the darts are being used to draft.

just a donkey move by dan morgan, whom must be on the ravens payroll...

Yes, not a good trade.

Again I doubt that was the best offer, but IF it was, I just keep him and hope maybe for a 3rd/4th comp pick since Panthers don't have the cap space anyway.

FYI the whole ST unit are FAs in 2025.

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
