BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard

Honestly, that cut he made for that 4th quarter TD against the Saints was what play making is all about. And quite frankly, it is exactly what this team needs. This kid has worked his ass off. Remember, he got to play with and watch Christian McCaffery. Seems like he has that same drive and mentality, so I am fine with signing someone that shows up every day ready to work!

I really like the idea of him and Brooks together for a couple of years. We are solidifying the offensive pieces to put around our non-Bryce future quarterback

Yeah, we need to get back to that "smash and dash" style of football that helped give the Panthers that "keep pounding" mentality. Also helps take pressure off your young developing or whoever QB. Nothing but upside to this if Brooks turns into what we hope he can be. Especially with our young TE starting to look like a stud.

I swear this board is always like 4 years off on NFL trends. Defenses got built to defened the deep pass. Mid short passing game and especially the run game are back in. It is how you win. Its run to open the passing game unless you are Mahomes and Reid and they will get back to their RB by commitee when Pacheo is baxk healthy.

You are proving my point. If you draft an injured running back in the second round you must believe he has the potential to be a feature back. A team as bad as the Panthers has to be looking to draft starters with their top 3 picks. Extending Chuba indicates he’s the top dog which means we spent a high second round pick on a backup. They will rarely be on the field at the same time. That is poor roster management.

If this team already had a dynamic offense that’d be one thing but we don’t. We are not in the position to be making luxury picks when there’s holes all over the roster.

I don't believe any head coach believes in a feature back anymore.   Have to have quality depth.

The idea, of depending on a feature back to not get hurt, is the stupidest perspective of any true football fan.

For real. Imagine the bitching here if one goes down and the replacement is some scrub. " Wow Dan Morgan sucks, no RB depth. We could have drafted Brooks last year. He was right there for the taking in the 2nd!" as he balls out on another team.

1) Still young at 25. Good contract for the production, especially at only 15 million guaranteed.

2) Investing in a core offensive identity. An elite running back corps is a force multiplier with our upgraded interior line.
3) Acknowledging performance and retaining developed talent sets an important precedent for a young, rebuilding team.

4) This “devaluation” of running backs perspective seems to be waning. Setting aside the Chiefs and their hall of fame coach/QB/TE combo, the tops teams have all invested in RBs, many of which were free agents.

Lions with a contract to Montgomery and first round Ghibbs. Ravens sign Henry. Eagles sign Barkley. Vikings sign Jones. Packers sign Jacobs. Commanders sign Ekeler. Texans sign Mixon. Bills have their second rounder Cook who filled in after 3rd rounder Moss was underwhelming (who the Bengals then signed this offseason but is hurt). The niners moved for CMC. Steelers Harris was a first rounder. Falcons have Bijan playing well.

I’ll take the raisins on this one.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
