I kind of feel like we have depth.  What we need are more starters.  I mean some of the guys we have would make excellent backups.

They also need talent. Like....a lot of it.

Exactly. What we lack is true nfl starters. We have enough backups.

I maybe huffin the hopuim too much for the defense during 2 games winning.

If DJ played like that each game(??), DBrown, Turlte, ARob(who's been like Dbrown), clowny

That's a solid front 5, or is it too much homer huffin??

Then Jewell and Shaq

Again solid, not trash or elite.

Horn(heathly) Mike Jackson. Dane Jackson, Woods, and Fuller

I swear the "solid" enough feels are here again

Of course Id love to drop a elite edge and have DJ come off the bench or another stud CB, but I swear if that group was 100% healthy I feel they'd be around 18th best. (yes still need a true NT).

Please correct me.

I am thrilled as anyone with the recent play.

That being said, the Giants have the worst passing game in the NFL.

My thought is we need Brown back and a good defensive end, as well as at least one good linebacker.   I think Shaq may be done, and even if he isn't, might be time to get a guy who can replace him when he is done.  And maybe another safety.

Yep the wins came against other bad teams, still they are NFL teams and on the schedule.

I was thinking like you and just proof "These guys are solid enough, just need to stay healthy" Shaq said he wants to play five more years and already said hes coming back. Give the guy the vet min and duel it out with Wallace for starting or even rotate them some.

Of course I want a playmaking edge. I said solid too many times, but difference makers are not solid. There's no turnover, sack machine, big play player on the unit with Dbrown healthy, sorry not sorry. I feel that would push the team over the top, just having heath and one sack/pressure/TO/FF machine on the line. NT would not hurt either, a true one.

Put the pipe down. You are what your record says you are. They need talent and a lot of it. Brown is set but he can use upgrades all around him. ARob is fine but a short timer so competition is needed as a hedge against him chasing money next year. They need a bunch of LBs. Jewell is stopgap and Shaq is losing a step. He's the smartest of the group but he can no longer hang with a TE. They are playing harder yes, but it's due to grit and pride more than skill. They are finally getting tired of getting their asses kicked. Unfortunately for them the beatings will continue until moral improves.

I agree it looked better.  We no longer look historically bad. But we still need to make a lot of additions in the offseason.

But playing against the Giants does help statistically.

Green shoots coming up. Finally.

Still too early to tell if they'll be fruitful long-term, or if they're just weeds, but at least something is coming up from this manure pile we've made here.

I was really impressed by Wonnum's get off.  As others have said, he looks like he was shot out of a cannon with his first couple steps.  That's great!  I know that he's had a hard go the last several months.  To be out there must have been a dream come true.  He still has it.

I hope he can stay that hungry and excited.

As far as the defense, they have made enough plays the last two weeks to win.  They aren't a shutdown defense, but they are not the entire reason we've got a poor record.  Look, I want to be as hopeful as anyone here.  I'm not a huge fan of living in a perpetual cloud of misery.  I did that too long.  But the Giants are just a bad of a team as us and it took to OT...  Let's be realistic.  We still need a lot of help.

Are there some good pieces we can work with?  Yes!  We're still letting anyone run wild on us.  You've got to stop the run in the NFL and force teams into 3rd and long.  We're not that kind of defense right now.

I'm going to continue to watch the Panthers.  Looking for the week to week improvements.  Sometimes it will crash and burn.  That's the way it goes!

    • Well bois, we gave the Devils their due! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... The jersey boys have been trying to jack our steeze for a few years now. They've followed our blueprints and studied our tape. Every offseason, they pounce on our sloppy seconds in a Newark minute. Quick with the puck, ferocious on the forecheck and stifling team defense. Down to the colors, this is this closest we'll come to having to play ourselves in Ole Stanley's Hockey Hoedown. As the postseason began, Rod stood flexing in the gym mirror and saw this guy staring back from the void... (Shutters) When beating us at our game didn't work, Timo and the Tri-State Trash tried to tango instead. Outside of a bitchass cheapshot on Freddie, that poo didn't work either. Their goon squad was getting wrecked by our bantam weights. As much as we all wanted to see Svechy or Staal Bunyan literally break someone in half after the Great Dane went down, they didnt need to. Our munchkins were monsters! Jarvis obliterating giants at the blue line, Logan laying the Stank on dudes twice his size and Blakers blasting Timo into next season. It was beautiful to see! (Side note: Does JBlo wear lead weights under his pads? 170lbs shouldn't be able to hit that hard!) We closed it out in 5, for the gentleman's sweep. Only team in the league to win a series in each of the past 7(?) seasons! And, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year... Onto the awards: Key To The Series : 6 for 19 - .316% IT FINALLY WORKED!!! MVP : 16/180 g/s - .911 save% - 2.53 gaa Seriously, without this dude, we would've won in 3! (Trust me bro) 3rd Star : 6/94 g/s - .936 save % - 1.59 gaa The Great Dane   2nd Star : 3 g - 5 a - +1 - 20:38 toi/g - 18 hits - 3 bs - 58.1% fo 3 PP goals and the 2OT series winning goal! WOOAAAHHH NELLY!!!!   And, your 1st Star of the series : 5 g - 1 a - +3 - 16:48 toi/g - 16 hits - 1 bs - 1 tk - 50% fo Zero, I repeat, zero penalty minutes for the series! MISSSTAAAHHH SVEEECHNIKOOOV!!!!!! Onto The Next: Now, we wait for the Habs to make it a nasty 7 game slog, while we recuperate. And, hopefully, get Nikishin, and some of the other black aces some real peactice time. We are gonna need those guys at some point. Because, if you think the Devils were dirty, hoooo boy, wait till you see what's next...
    • I don’t watch college football anymore (used to be Stanford STH but meh), but my wife is Hawaiian and her favorite color is purple, so I guess I knew Tet was my new favorite player to root for when he came out in a purple suit and lei and threw up the Shaka.
