McCarthy was an insane hire from the start ...Rogers made his whole HC career

Im no fan, but my god the man has had three 12 wins in row, that's insanely great.

But if you bring up playoffs, I fold lighting fast...

he's still gone.

At this rate Morgan and Canales will be back and we will probably get some stability for the first time in years. I think Evero goes though.

HC vacancies?

Locks

NYJ- Saleh Already Fired

New Orleans- Allen Already Fired

NYG- Daboll gets fired unless miracle occurs.

Dallas- Jones fired McCarthy

Jacksonville- Pederson is done.

Maybe?

Browns- Stefanski but not really his fault

Bears- Eberflus should have been fired last year

Raiders- Pierce has been a huge let down after ending 2023 with good momentum.

Which brings me to my next point- would you keep Evero with Dennis Allen, Robert Saleh, Matt Eberflus, Patrick Graham, Shane Bowen, and Jim Schwartz all available for DC? Possibly even Vrabel since I don't see a HC role in his near future.

I could see Stefanski staying one more year mainly because the Deshaun Watson contract is such an albatross that I read the soonest they might be able to cut him is after next season as a post-June 1 cut.

Bears have a bad habit drafing a QB high and then canning the HC one year afterwards. Firing Eberflus would continue the pattern.

I think Raiders had a lot of injuries which explains their struggles. Normally, I'd say Pierce will get another shot but with Brady now having part ownership, who knows.

Someone else mentioned it but I have to wonder if there's thoughts within the building about switching back to a 4-3, especially with Morgan as the GM and our defense being bare bones on talent which gives us an opening to transition with brand new players. This obviously makes Evero expendable and there's people out there like Robert Saleh who can run a 4-3 defense.

Giants owner already said Daboll and GM are safe.

And McCarthy will be let go not fired. His contract ends after this season. He won't be extended but won't be fired.

If he wants to stay then yes. I don't really think it's in the teams hands.

I'm leery of constantly changing course.  Ideally he wants to stay and doesn't get hired away and we give him a draft.

I think if you are going to stay in a 3-4 you just keep Evero. I can see them going back to a 4-3 especially with the defensive struggles this year. We still haven't transitioned to a 3-4 and most of our players are flexible. Morgan played in a 4-3 and Seattle/Buffalo both ran 4-3s as well.

Last good 3-4 team here was 1996.

And the guy that ran it is mentoring Evero. Which is a kind of a strange but true thing.

I agree that if a change is in order this is the time. Before we add players to the little we have.
Once you do you have taken steps down a path so you need to be sure that you won’t want to do the opposite next year.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
