My Personal Takeaway from This Game vs Cheifs

We finally have a decent offensive game and now we're ready to outright say that offense isn't a huge issue? 30th in the NFL in average points per game begs to differ.

I think a lot of fans are overreacting to this game due to the expectation that we were likely going to get blown out. Let's see a few more like this before we start claiming problems have been solved.

Don't worry we will have a meltdown game in a few weeks and everyone will be back to crying.

I agree with most of what you said, but I disagree about CB. I think Horn and Mike Jackson have been a pretty great duo this year.

I think they have been ok too, especially when you factor in our anemic pass rush this season.

I realize great safetys(sp?) don't grow on trees. But, it sure would be great if we could find a ball-hawking  safety to play on the back end. We need the type of player who must be accounted for on every down; the type of guy who make  every level of the defense just by being on the field. I feel like Carolina has undervalued the safety position for years. We haven't drafted a safety prior to round 3 since we got Mike Minter in the 2nd round way back in 1997.

Take a look at the SB winners since 2000. I 'd say most of the teams have above average to great guys playing at the safety position.

How many sacks did we get vs how many we took?

Asking for my imaginary friend.

I think Cheifs got 2 sacks total on the Panthers and the Panthers got 5 sacks total on the Cheifs

Neither team had any turnovers that the other team recovered which is also a cool Stat. Means we likely could've won with even 1 INT or fumble recovered imo.

Bryce did have a fumble but It was recovered by the panthers.

This was the first game in I don't know how long I was actually excited to watch as it came down to the wire. I didn't get hyped the past two weeks, this one was different.

You know it's interesting, I felt the same. For me, in part, in those 2 wins it kind of felt like those teams were mostly beating themselves and the Panthers were fortunate beneficiaries of their ineptitude. I felt perhaps more amusement at watching these other teams dysfunction than genuine happiness by the Panthers performance. Meanwhile for this Chiefs game, the Panthers rose to the occasion and nearly muscled out a win against a super talented team that wasn't making stupid mistakes. I was legitimately proud of the Panthers this week. It felt like for the first time in a while, we earned some real respect.

Yeah I felt the same way about watching the game. Most fun game since Vegas.

I was saying all summer that we shouldn't judge things the first half of the year due to everything on offense being new, a new HC, green as they come.

Like, the OL would take time and the offense would take time and the coach would take time and the QB would take time. He was the monkey wrench in my predictions by playing so horrible early but the rest of the stuff is tracking.

I thought we'd have seen Brooks by game 5 or so... wrong too on that one and we still don't know anything. But right now they have everything they need in place to evaluate things.

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
