when you are watching what he does, it's hard to not see how good he is actually doing out there unless you are willfully choosing to ignore it just so you can keep your argument going.

He's made a lot of very small improvements that have all added up together to create what we are seeing now

- His mobility is shining more than it ever has because he's trusting the pocket the OL creates for him (most of the time).  Instead of drifting backwards when the pressure comes, he either stays mostly level with the LOS (or makes sure he gets back to that point) or steps up and through the pressure.  We saw this on the 3rd down when he was facing a safety.  Bryce from a year ago or Week 1 ABSOLUTELY takes that sack.  Instead, he steps up and weaves through the pressure and gets level with the LOS before making the throw.  This is such a big difference that if you haven't been watching Bryce, you wouldn't think anything of it. 

- As a result, we are also getting more rushing production from Bryce.  He's ran for 20+ in 3 of the last 4 and in the one game he didn't, he ran for 17 and a score.  His decisiveness on these kind of plays has made the biggest difference

- Just his willingness to push it downfield and understanding sometimes it is better to give your WRs a chance even if the risk of an INT is high.  His interception yesterday was terrible, make no mistake about it.  But it is nice to see him take that risk

- He keeps his eyes down the field when he moves out of the pocket.  As a huge Bryce Young fan coming out of Alabama, one reason I defended him for so long (and lowkey am starting to regret hopping off the train - gotta trust your gut) is because at his absolute worst, he should be one of the NFL's elite escape artists.  Yet we never really got that because for, he seemed incapable of scrambling and keeping his eyes on the routes developing.  We're really seeing the Bryce that we saw at Alabama

With all that said, I'm still a bit skeptical.  His accuracy is still very concerning at times.  A few of his plays went into the dirt yesterday and had a few other misses.  Still, his decision-making and playmaking have been top-notch since returning to the line-up.

He's got things to work on for sure. I think yesterday he was off on a lot of throws he's been making, tho he made up for it in other ways. He also has trouble with a lot of routes beyond 20 yards, but I think that'll come with more reps with WRs

it really seems like they are all getting in synch. chemistry developing is really good. i want to see more of Coker and JT out there. hopefully they get back in soon.

One of the biggest differences I see in him now is the ability to move up into the pocket in the face of pressure and quickly process/see an "NFL open" receiver.  He may have seen them before, but he was cautious to throw.  Now he just let's it fly.  

Something just clicked or perhaps watching Andy take those shots encouraged him to go out there and rip.

The best descriptor of where I'm at with him and the team is "encouraged" and that's a great feeling for a change.

He's not a finished product by any means, his mechanics still need to be more consistent but another offseason with Canales will help.

Progress is good. There's nothing wrong with expecting more to finish the season. That will go a long way to establishing a better consensus on him within the fanbase. You can't realistically blame anyone for being cautiously optimistic for the time being. Especially someone that has been a Panthers fan for many many years. We've fallen head over heels for small sample sizes before.

As far as comparisons go Hurts is a very inconsistent QB compared to a few years ago. In general QB play this season has been largely underwhelming compared to the last 4-5 years. I don't expect things to remain that way though. Especially the low passing yardage we're seeing on the whole. There were actually several QB's with well over 300+ yards yesterday.

Fair take - cautious optimism is understandable.

I think many are still rightfully mired in Panthers PTSD. How many times in the past have we started to feel encouraged by an emerging player only to have our feel good demolished? Too many. It looks so good on film but the sinking ‘here we go again’ still rings loudly… even more so over the last 5 years.

i understand it.

i'm just seeing stuff from bryce i haven't seen in a QB here in a long time.

      Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.

      Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.

      Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
