Is Coker WR1?

Part of his ability is to create a broken coverage -- most every catch on this team is contested, year-in and year-out. So his hands, route-running savvy and overall talent equate to a star in the making. Also, I would far rather go QB, DL or trade down than pick yet another WR early.

I'd be down for QB, but I think we'll be deciding between DL and WR. With the top 2 QBs gone by 4/5, I don't see trading down as likely to be easy / worthwhile. TMac looks really good...  And DL is a big need but I just don't love taking a DT that high and none of the edges seem worth #4. I may be wrong tho, playoffs can change things.

Oh there are two guys at the top of my board who will be there at 2. And one of them at 3. Otherwise, trade down.

I mean trading down almost always sounds like a good plan but unless you're taking late round peanuts, there needs to be a blue chip player someone else wants, which is usually a QB. We're going to very likely be drafting at 4 or later I suspect, where both QBs and Hunter should be gone...

Agree--My crystal ball sees us finishing no worse than 4 if we lose out.  I see the Giants (who play at Atlanta, Indy, and at Philly) with a chance of winning vs. Falcons or Colts.  With a strong SOS, they would fall behind the Panthers.  The Raiders could be tanking, but they are at home vs. Jax this weekend and are slight favorites--and their SOS is high.  Jaxonvile, on the other hand, is ahead of the Panthers because they have the weaker SOS--but they finish with Vega$$ (see what I did there), Tenn at home, and Indy.  Either Vegas or Jax has to win a game, leapfrogging the Panthers if they keep losing.

Pull for Vegas to beat Jax--the jags have 2 winnable games after that.

If the Panthers lose out, (Cards, Bucs, and Falcons), they likely pick third, could pick fourth.

What does this scenario mean?

1. Giants (QB, probably Ward, but possibly Sanders).

2. Patriots (WR/CB Hunter)

3.  Panthers (Hmmmm.  One top QB on the board and the Raiders, Browns (perhaps), Titans, and Jets possibly needed QBs, I would expect some healthy offers--it will be interesting to see if the Raiders lose out for this reason alone.

Wr1, 2, 3 or x, y, z originally existed to designate what routes your receiver ran.

certain receivers ran certain routes and would line up all over the field.

another way to look at it is speedy, shifty, and catchy.

this doesn’t really apply anymore because receivers are so athletic good one’s can run any route.

Coker can run every route and has great hands. What more do you want. You can find some random jabroni to take the top off a defense, like Ted Ginn.

Coker is the dude.

I think you're right on 4 or above, tho we'll see. We could throw that all out the window by winning a couple hahaha.

If we're at 3 and we get good offers for a QB I am open to trading down, especially if we can snag a first next year from a bad team. Then we can be the envy of the league with all our draft picks, just like the Bears were. Turned out so well for them 😜

But seriously I think we'll be in good draft position. No matter what, we need some kind of competition for Bryce next year, or an outright replacement if he collapsed back to 2023 form the rest of the way (I don't think he'll do this tho, just go back to being low end starter / backup material lol)

He's been a great pick up... One of the main reasons I'm excited to watch on Sundays now tbh.

Really like the potential I'm seeing from Coker. And if XL can clean up his drops, he will be a big time player as well. WR is still a need, but I'd take a mid round flyer and focus on defense early. Unless we trade back later in the first. At that point, Luther Burden is pretty tempting.

Highly probable he is next year. What's concerning, and I've always had this take is how bad this organization has been at evaluating receivers. We've had 1 all pro for certain at this positon in Steve? Muhammad ik had some pro bowl appearances (ik its a popularity vote). But even the solid receivers we've had never lasted long, or were not consistent. We've acquired solid vet WR's like Keyshawn for brief periods but they're essentially washed. As far as drafting pass catchers we are horrendous.

    • So we are all supposed to bow now? Or can we wait until after the season?  The fear is not that he would prove me wrong, it is that the people in charge are fooled again and accept subpar results as enough progress to make a new commitment. And of course, we get the same start to next year as this year and the previous two years.  I am not afraid to be wrong. I have consistently said let’s let these games play out.    I am just unwilling to accept one or two nice games a year or three or four and the rest working around him like we have to do, as proof of success.  IOW I am afraid you are wrong to crown him, the FO will be wrong, etc… And screw you too calling people miserable old fugs.
    • Maybe it depends on how the logo is tweaked.   Kinda looks college-ish    (yes, this is official NFL merch)
    • Okay, whatever. Some people can't resist taking a crap in another man's cleats. Even after the guy set the new franchise record for passing yards in a game, won that game and won it against our division rivals. Yeah, he's still a frog, warts and all. A lot of you are tired of kissing him. A lot of you just keep seeing the frog and want it gone, for your own good reasons. Truth is, though, the franchise is going to keep kissing this frog in hopes of finding a prince through the rest of this season, no matter what happens. We've got Andy Dalton on the bench, just keeping it from flying up in the air and basically no one on the active roster behind him. We have the veritable murderer's row of opponents coming up, including half of the game vs division opponents, including two versus the division leading Bucs. There's really not an easy game ahead of us unless New Orleans decides to pack it in early and just phone in a contractual obligated effort. The only way, the EFFING ONLY WAY, Bryce comes out of this turning into the prince is if he wins four or more of these games and somehow gets the team into the playoffs. And you can read it here, there are a lot of people here who are actually afraid of that because they could be proven wrong about him, that we could be saddled with a QB they don't like because of it.  They'd fuging rather lose games and shorten the season to see Bryce fail, even if it means their team fails. Man, that's fuged up.  Root for the team or go the fug on. If that means you've got to pull for the little guy in the fight, then you  do. Hell, the odds are certainly stacked against him. But it sure would be nice if we hit a patch of magic after years of futility. But you guys would crap on that, too. Miserable old fugs.
