Tepper insisted on the 3 4 whrn Ron was here and that defense has sucked ever since

i cant see anyone hiring Evero

i heard a respected pod caster talking about how denver’s defense took a step back when evero was there

he didnt have a lot to work with this year and every team  deals either injuries but for  the love of God, a safety on Lamb…what are you doing

Cardinals could  put up monstrous run yards With Murray alone

add to it, the depleted cowboys gave the scheme of how to beat the panthers offense

add to it, a safety on Harrison jr 😆

I got an interesting name and long shot.

Steve Clinkscale, with Michigan ties and there’s a few Wolverines at the top of the draft.

Steve Clinkscale

DEFENSIVE BACKS Los Angeles Chargers

Biography

A 23-year coaching veteran at the collegiate level, Steve Clinkscale comes to Los Angeles to coach defensive backs after a three-season tenure as secondary coach at the University of Michigan (2021-23). He added co-defensive coordinator responsibilities last season, helping lead the top-ranked defense in college football, allowing just 247.0 total net yards per game as the Wolverines posted a 15-0 record and finished by winning the College Football Playoff National Championship. Prior to his time at Michigan, Clinkscale coached defensive backs at the University of Kentucky for five seasons (2016-20) and at the University of Cincinnati for three seasons (2013-15), adding defensive coordinator responsibilities for the Bearcats his final season. He got his start in coaching as defensive backs coach at his alma mater, Ashland University, from 2001-07 before coaching defensive backs at Western Carolina in 2008. Clinkscale then spent three seasons at Toledo (2009-11) as cornerbacks coach/special teams coordinator before coaching cornerbacks at Illinois in 2012.

I understand there is no relationship with Steve Clinkscale, but if we are targeting any of his former players in the draft, it wouldn’t hurt to have a conversation with him. See if he has any interest.

I have a hard time believing we are gonna land a big name coordinator in Charlotte. Might as well explore all avenues.

I may be entirely wrong but I don't really remember Wilks being a great DC when he took over the defense.   I believe he took over after Snow was fired and our defense regressed a lot?  Maybe I'm misremembering though.

When Wilks took over as HC he promoted Al Holcomb to DC. Holcomb struggled and Wilks had to babysit him. We also only had like 3 position coaches on the whole team. With Ben McAdoo pretty much doing everything on Offense.

Wilks took over as DC in 2017 after McDermott took the Buffalo job. Defense finished 7th I think that year. For what it's worth his Defense in San Francisco finished 3rd last year and Shanahan still fired him.

I think he'll get a pass from the media because the team is so bad top to bottom, seems to be the trend with us right now. No one watches our games so when it's time to talk panthers they rehash old talking points about the few pieces of the team they recognize. Someone will give him a chance as if his stint here never happened.

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
