Culture is like any other team characteristic--sometimes it's a need, sometimes it's not. The run defense last year makes me think it's a need. If the line on a guy is "talented, but not tough enough," then he's probably not going to fix our problems. So right now, I'm fine with this being a focus. Once the culture's been built, we can start to use that as an asset and chase talent.

  • Tahj Brooks, RB, Texas Tech (West)

  • Theo Wease, WR, Missouri (East)  This guy is interesting.  He had more yards than Burden III this year at Misouri, and in his last 5 games, he caught  23 passes for 402 yards.  Finished strong. (Total nearly 900 yards) Underrated if he is a 4th round projection, as I have seen.
  • Ricky White, WR, UNLV (West)  Definitely interested mid day 3.  Decent size, fairly good production in college.
  • Will Sheppard, WR, Colorado (West)
  • Jimmy Horn Jr, WR, Colorado (West)
  • Ben Yuroseck, TE, Georgia (East)
  • Luke Lachey, TE, Iowa (West)
  • Jack Conley, iOL, Boston College (West)
  • Antwaun Powell-Ryland, EDGE, Virginia Tech (East)  Short (6-2, 250) with short arms (31") however, he has some moves and high motor.  A situational pass rusher type for me--day 3 steal?
  • Fadil Diggs, EDGE, Syracuse (East)
  • Ahmed Hassanein, EDGE, Boise St (West)
  • Tyler Baron, EDGE, Miami (East)  I love his size and he has some really good tape.  I worry that he relies on the swim (outside arm) to get to the passer, and that will hurt him vs. screens, bootleg rollouts, sweeps, etc. so I would approach him as to how coachable he is.   If he puts it all together, he could be a steal.  High ceiling, low floor, imo
  • Nazir Stackhouse, DL, Georgia (East)  Good NT frame and size, I would be interested in his motor.  Late day 3 maybe--but we need depth at NT as well as NT.  Maybe a first down run stopper who will give no help in the pass rushing dept.
  • Tonka Hemingway, DL, South Carolina (East)  He played opposite a stud at SC (TJ Sanders) who would be a solid second round pick.  Hemingway would be a great late round pick or UDFA.
  • Shavon Revel, CB, East Carolina (East)He is highly rated, but I have not looked into him yet.  I think he is the second or third rated CB overall---that good.
  • Zy Alexander, CB, LSU (West)
  • Jabbar Muhammed, CB, Oregon (West)
  • Cobee Bryant, CB, Kentucky (East)

Gonna comment (above) on some mutual interests--most of these I have not researched--but I will use this to watch the game and take notes.  TY

That doesn't work logically because the exact opposite could be true, and more in line with the truth since he's wanted "dawgs" the whole time.  The guys he's drafting could be tough enough, but not talented enough.   I think that is more likely.

We don't have to talk in hypotheticals. Morgan's been here since 2021. The traditional linebackers that we've drafted since then have been Brandon Smith and Trevin Wallace, both great size/speed athletes. DJ Johnson is another great athlete. We haven't drafted many guys who have a chance at impacting the run game--that could be the entire problem--but I can't think of anyone who failed because they're not physically talented enough. Michael Barrett, maybe? But we're talking about picks that matter.

What I'm saying is toughness doesn't have any better odds to make a great player than height/weight/speed.   An elite talented player with no toughness still may make it to the NFL, an elitely tough player without much talent definitely won't.   What I'm trying to say is all of this is a sliding scale and I don't care about this hyper focus on being a "dawg" when we've been one of the worst drafting teams in the NFL both pre and post Morgan hiring.  Until he hits on a draft I don't care what he says and will continue to feel like he doesn't know what he's talking about regardless.

That's fine--I think it helps to think about it on the team level and not the player level. In the same way that a slow team needs fast players, a soft team needs tough ones. Last year's defense lacked an edge. With this roster, it seems fine to look for guys who are going to create a competitive, physical culture.

late 3rd or 4rth would be my guess as to where he is going to go.  He has really good football speed but the size is a bit of a concern especially trying to get off the line when pressed.  He may be a poor mans Devonte smith and would be good value in a later round

Last years team definitely lacked speed and athleticism overall too.  They looked like they were running in mud most of the time.

It seems like every year there is a wr or two lighting up the senior bowl that rise a lot.  I could be wrong but it seems like most of them end up being overdrafted and don't perform well in the NFL, but maybe some of them have and I'm misremembering.

yeah, I agree.  How about let's not draft projects, injured guys, etc.  Draft dudes that can help ASAP

      So Willis had a good game against a poor defense and all of a sudden he is worth 50 million and is guaranteed to be better than Young. LOL I know he looked good in the 3 games he started, and I think he will have success long term, but anyone signing him up for a long term contract for 50 million is taking a huge risk.

      Is he really though? Rivera was past his prime and probably shouldn't have even started 2019 so his firing wasn't really unexpected or unwarranted. Rhule lasted two and a half years which was about one year too long in my opinion. Bringing him back that third year certainly wasn't impulsive and I would say Tepper was more patient than he should have been. Wilks finished out that third season and did pretty good but most everyone could see he really wasn't anything more than an intern HC. Bringing him back was not the long term answer so not bringing him back was the correct call. Hiring Reich was a mistake from the beginning and he recognized that fairly quickly. I am sure he knew he was going to catch a lot of sh*t for firing him so quickly ( and boy did he ) but it was absolutely the right thing to do given everything that was going on. The firing may have looked impulsive, but I think it was him recognizing he had royally f*ck up and just dealt with it instead of letting it fester.  That brings us to Canales. 2025 was only his second season and yet he delivered 8 wins and the NFC South title. And while that might not sound great, given the lack of talent and cap space they started with, it's a strong step in the right direction. I couldn't imagine Tepper not being pleased with their progress given the crap the Panthers' have been though under his ownership.
