Half a season in 2011 instead of none at all.

Recommended Posts

I doubt the whole year is locked out, what happened in 1982 and 1987 during the player strikes was 3 or 6 weeks were lost and then after both sides couldn't stand losing all the money they were losing they came to an agreement. Even thought we might miss a few weeks of football in 2011 we will not be losing an entire season.

I think most owners have made moves to where they will be alright when the lockout happens. The Players are gonna be the ones suffering and I doubt the Union is gonna help with that.

exactly, so when the players start to lose millions and millions of dollars after 4 or 6 weeks they will find themselves running to the table. players should get 51% of revenue owners 49%, besides owners have to pay the rest of the stadium workers and stadium upkeep, players being selfish really.

All of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players that were drafted outside of the first 2 rounds will be camped outside of the stadium gates with their pads on by week 5 if there is a lockout.

Those guys don't have enough extra cash to sling around after paying the agents and taxes, buying new cars, and having a pimp pad, to be missing out on that much $.

They will fold first, and soon thereafter the stars will show back up.

Until there is a lockout, I will believe there won't be one. Yes, that is me hoping beyond hope. It just wouldn't surprise me to see them get a deal done at the last minute. If there is a lockout, I guess I'll be able to go on a real vacation in the second half of the year for a change.

lockout or no lockout I hope there is a rookie salary cap put in place, that would help save some owners some money

Not really, that money would then go to vets. And for the record, I'm on the players' side on this issue. I work for a fortune 100 company and am not expected to pay for our building, I don't think the players should have to forfeit money for stadium upkeep. If it weren't for the players there would be no use for stadiums. Not to mention the risk this guys, yes knowingly, take with each snap to have absolute crap for medical care down the road when they're much more likely to need it.

And what exactly do you make at this company? I doubt very seriously you make over 250K a year and that is near the bare min NFL players can make and thats for scrubs. These guys are playing a game that a overwhelming majority of ppl that play it take the same risks and don't get a cent. NFL players (and pro sports players in general) make way too much.

If it weren't for the owners taking on hundreds of millions in debt to buy the teams, there wouldn't be stadiums or teams for which to play. Players do put their bodies on the line but are pretty well compensated for it. Owners should make a profit since they are taking all the risk financially. There are a lot of careers as risky or more so than football players for which they get much less compensation. Even among sports football isn't the riskiest. Rugby players make much less than football players and it is much worse for injuries and the like. Players don't hold the cards here and if they strike will end up losing quite a bit.

I think there will be a lockout but that by the end of preseason it will be resolved with a shorter preseason schedule and still a 16 game regular season.

lol, I would think the players could afford medical coverage so I found that funny. However, insurance companies will not cover a professional athlete. And after players retire, medical records will show a "paper trail" to long lasting injuries that were caused by football- in turn, causing them ineligable for coverage (even if its conditional coverage).

As to the vets getting that money- I haven't heard much talk to that actually being the case since there is/was about 400 million available for vets under the CBA.

    • They're examples of denying reality. Here are some others: ,- Bryce is the worst QB in the NFL right now (no he isn't) - Bryce is the worst QB in NFL history (no he's not; that's stupid) - Well then Bryce is at least the the worst QB in the league over the last three years (nope, he's actually improved a lot since year one, which was a turbulent year anyway) - That's not true, he hasn't Improved one but since his rookie year (oh come on) 🙄 - Well, even if he did, we can't win with him (obviously we can) - Yeah but not unless everyone else is damn near perfect (think the game film from our wins this year would back that up?) - Even so, we won those games in spite of him (officially the stupidest argument available) And no, those are made up. You can find those quotes and other equally moronic statements in various threads around the board. I know some folks always need to characterize whatever they're against as the worst thing in existence. It's hyperbole, and it's hypersilly. Likewise, you've got some who are so absolutely emotional about it that even if you think Bryce isn't good enough (which I do) they'll still call you a stan if you don't agree to label him the lousiest passer in existence 🙄 It's just dumb, and it's not realistic. But on the flipside, here are some statements which are; - Bryce is indeed capable of both playing in, and winning, an NFL game. Not on a consistent level though, and consistency is huge. - He is also capable of completing mid-range and even some deep passes; hell, he threw a beauty this past Sunday  - Yes, he has improved over his rookie season and over last year. Arguing against that is disingenuous. - Believe it or not, other players are the roster do make mistakes in games also.  - And lastly, while I know it hurts some people's narrative and arguments, Bryce does indeed deserve credit for the winning games he's played in this season. ... Every single one of those statements is true. And since i acknowledge all that, I must be in favor of keeping him in place then Except I'm not 😕 ... Don't know of anyone who doesn't think he'll get the fifth year option. Not ready to guarantee anything beyond that, though. So bottom line: Yeah, Bryce is fully expected to be our quarterback through next year. If there were a logical, realistic path to acquire a more capable starter and transition Bryce to a backup I'd be elated, but that's a pipe dream. This where we're at  I don't **** it, you don't like it, others don't either. But here We are so let's make the best of it that we can.
    • What does it matter how fast the wrs are with Bryce he is not hitting them anyway
    • Let's be real. Signing Matt Kalil who was at the time inconsistent at best was always an extremely risky move and largely initiated by the fact he was related to one of our most prominent players Ryan Kalil. Memories get fuzzy the longer time passes I guess. Go watch some old Panthers games with Ted Ginn nearly losing us games. Then watch Cam Newton keep going back to him again and again and again. Then read all the Xavier Legette criticism while making excuses for Bryce being swept by rookie 2nd round pick Tyler Shough. Throwing TMac under the bus is just further proof how deranged the Bryce Young defense force has become. Bryce Young can barely compete in this gutter iteration of the NFC South. Let's see him take this WR core to the playoffs in an NFC South with Drew Brees and Matt Ryan
