Seen one interesting idea regarding Rantanen.

Obviously Rantanen is off to a slow start and we’re no where near closer to a new deal. Toronto is also struggling getting their superstar, Mitch Marner, to agree to a new deal.

Should Carolina flip Rantanen for Marner before the deadline? Marner might be a better fit than Rantanen anyway.

Not the first time I've heard Marner's name come up, and, as we've read over the past few days, if Carolina doesn't get a long-term deal done before the TDL, Rantanen will likely be on the move again.

Marner isn't a goal scorer, he's more of an assist guy (16G, 55A), so does he make Aho, Jarvis, Svech better goal scorers?

The Canes may come out of this with egg on their face with Necas having success in Colorado (4G, 5A in 8 games) while Rantanen struggles to adjust and a deal not looking very promising at this point.

      Just worry about it next year.  Its that simple honestly.  its way to early to do what ifs.  I could see us trade/cut chuba and retain dowdle, I could see them let dowdle walk and go with Chuba/Etienne and Brooks, and I could see Dowdle and Chuba both stay and see what happens.  Hell, we still have 6 games left THIS season plus possible post-season...what if Rico or Chuba have an ACL tear or severe injury.  I DO NOT want that to happen, but stuff like that does happen.  Remember RB is the most injury prone position in the NFL due to the beating their bodies take so having some extra guys is never bad, just wish it hadn't come at the cost we paid to get him.

      I think it’s cool that no one can be really certain what the outcome will be.  That’s a lot of progress! This is a real opportunity for us, I’d be happy with a competitive game and thrilled if we sack up for a W.

      I could never found out who did the first surgery. That failed.      Nor who did the recent one.    Yiu can’t count on anything involving him. If it happens it’s a windfall at this point.
