The average draft class has roughly 15 players who are deemed "first-round talents," though the number varies by team and scouting department. These sacred evaluations are reserved for prospects who would be Day 1 selections regardless of year, and my own guideline is whether a player would have been a first-rounder in each of the past five classes.   To compare, the final list in 2024 had 18 names on it, and the 2023 list had 20. There is still time for things to change and that number to grow, but here are the players who deserve a first-round grade on my board right now.

It feels like each passing day he is rising up and its to the point where he getting top 5 hype..... that's real!

 

That said it feels like a mason graham has like a 30% chance to reach the Panthers.

What I currently know- Carter and Hunter are 100% going before 8. 

The 2 QBs will 100% be drafted in the top ten, I want to say top 7...but Im not seeing it from all the people who are good at predictions. 

That's all known currently.  Lots of stuff up in the air.

So Will Campbell wouldn't normally be drafted in the first round? And no quarterbacks in the first round? '24 had 6 '23 had 3 '22 had 1 '21 had 5 and '20 had 4.  I think teams will be more comfortable taking a d line later since the position is stacked this year and the lt, wr, rb will all go in the first round and lt and wr going top ten.

Matt Miller is an idiot and he actually has a biased against the Panthers I really wish we would stop linking his stuff here 

Jordan Reid works for ESPN and is a much better draft analyst and actually writes insightful stuff about our team/knows his poo

I agree with the limited R1 grades but not his names.  

Jahdae Barron is a guy just skyrocketing on a few boards and publications.  My guess is word from the scouting community must be trickling out and pushing him ahead of Morrison (and Johnson for some)   

Mykel Williams is a first on paper, not on tape.  I just can't get on board with that.  He's a guy that's dependent if a team thinks they can carve him into a better rusher.  He needs a lot of development IMO.

But Miller has fallen off in recent years.  He was the guy claiming Willis & Ridder were going to be 1sts.

I don't know either, but I can say that I heard something a few weeks ago (No details were provided) about a "character issue" and I have not heard anything about it since. 

I also think, after the combine, Shemar Stewart will be a top 10-15 pick.

When I hear "dawg," I think nasty, high motor, over achiever, frothing at the mouth, etc.  I do not think of a guy who has all the tools yet disappears for long stretches should be a top 10 pick.   Some players have always had better tools and athleticism and have not had to work hard to be the best in middle school, high school, college, etc. Williams comes across like that kinda guy.  Give me Skattelbo and Jack Bech and Jeffrey Bassa and Darius Alexander--mid round dawgs who will stick on a roster.

He was dismissed from UVA for something that all parties were hush hush about- that's how he wound up at Marshall.  That being said, I've seen him up there on both The Athletic and PFF in the top-20 overall now.  Him, Pearce, & Shemar are in the same vicinity EDGE wise.

A lot of "character issues" are going to pop up between now and the draft. How many of them are legit remain to be seen. I've read the same thing about James Pearce recently as well.

Reminds me of another Marshall player with some "Character issues" who dropped in the draft several years ago.

Heck, I was a turd when I was 20--whatever it was, I might have him beat.  (Inference here is that I am no longer a turd--something I can prove because it is on my resume)
