Top 50 WRs by r/NFL

Zero Panthers appeared on the list. If distributed equally, each team in the NFL would have at least 1 and ~half the teams would have 2 on the list. We had zero.

Now, we do have two of our top 3 WRs entering their sophomore years, and Theilen is probably not getting proper respect as he nears the end of his career. Still, it’s hard to argue that our WR room currently ranks around bottom 5 in the league.

If you’re in Dan Morgan’s shoes, what’s your plan to improve our WR room while not neglecting our needs on defense?

So no necessary need to touch the WR room this year?

I’m not opposed to that. We need to see what we have in XL and Coker. My hope is at minimum one of those two proves they’re a capable WR2 for the 5+ years. Worst case scenario is both show as WR3 or less this year, and we have to completely remake the room in 2026.

There will be guys available in the top 60 of the draft that can help. You never know, perhaps McMillian drops to 8 and the matter takes care of itself.

Or make a good FA signing(more likely).

I don't believe in XL and I still don't want to reach on wr at 8.

So you do see the light!!! T21 wore you out admitted it!!!

This is why I feel Tmac is the best choice for the Panthers.

Cause at 57, 82, 102 etc, No WR will be close to Tmacs level of impact. But there will be starting level DLmen into the 4th round this year(*should)

Panthers don't need #4 or #3 or #5 they need a #1 or at least #2. That's only available at 8.

FA this year is bad, no #1 or 2s. Higgins is already tagged and he's a great #2. Unless trade happens, the best and only method is draft. That means using that 8th on Tmac.

You don't make a team better making desperate moves based on need. The desperate move we made to get Bryce shows up when you looks across the roster.

And the desperate moves of using the 39th and 32nd picks on wr's the last two years.  Our wr room is not has bad as our D and we need to see what X and Coker do year two as you suggested. We can get a wr later. This is really a trade back if you can draft and take a lot of defensive players.

I have been saying if McMillian was there at 8 I would take him for weeks.

Higgins is the better option but he really has little reason to want to come here unless we are willing to outbid the entire rest of the NFL.

One thing Dave Gettleman said that will stick with me forever is “don’t shop hungry”.  That is a sound philosophy.

I think shortly thereafter he exiled Josh Norman, panicked and drafted three corners, two of which were irrelevant and I forget their names but the philosophy is sound nonetheless.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
