David Newton getting too close to our players?

Get press the fug out of the locker rooms. You're going to have your press conference, ask your questions there. You don't need to be up in the players' business when they're changing and either celebrating or decompressing. I mean, damn...

And it's a trap to get something out of them in the heat of the moment. Players either have to rattle off some generic non-statement, say something that could get them in trouble, or say nothing and get in trouble.

The NBA sideline interviews are the worst. The guys haven't even caught their breath yet and getting asked to assess the game they just played

That's not true. The media aren't allowed until after a brief cooldown period after the game. Press conferences don't provide the access a post-game interview provides, because in most cases, only the head coach and the starting QB (unless he played poorly) go to the podium.

If you were doing a feature on a guy for your hometown paper, and he's not Dave Canales or Bryce Young, how do you get his comments after the game? You think you can tweet at him and he'll respond?

People love to hate the media, because they report facts people don't want to know, let alone read about.

Not everyone who covers professional sports is a callous buffoon like David Newton, and not everyone who wants locker-room access post-game wants to be in there because they're gay or they're a woman trying to get laid.

Many of these people need this access to gather comments, again, from non-head coach and non-QB members of the team, so they can properly do their jobs.

In football terms, it's as uneducated an opinion as "why do players need practice? Just more time around a bunch of guys. If that's all they want, go to a gay bar or something. They don't even play games at practice. Just show up on Sunday and do better than the other team. It's not hard."

I've never understood media being in locker rooms. Makes so sense

The whole roster doesn’t do press conferences. Say you’re writing a story and you need a quote from an up-and-coming defensive player who’s by no means a household name. How else do you get access? Hope for an autograph session?

Because it's not that important?

But — it is important when it’s your job. No outlet is running a feature story on a player without a quote from said player. Can’t ask Bryce about every guy on the team.

    • That he gets worse while at the same time getting more exposure is just typical.
    • And, yes, I've been a slow boil, but watching continually watching shitty displays of football for weeks has me frustrated.
    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
