Panthers free agency: What positions/players are still left to be upgraded after day 1

I think getting Higgins in much more likely, but even that would take a truckload of money.

Yeah, either Cincy is really going to work hard to keep this all together or they have dramatically miscalculated and it's going to end really poorly.

Someone who broke most of the signings today before the media announced them is saying the Panthers are trying to trade for Ja’marr Chase.

That random kid is talking about Tee not Chase

Money would not be an issue to Tepper unlike that cheapskate Bengals owner. I’d worry about the massive compensation we would have to give up, multiple 1st rounders

Per Mike Kaye

My view on today with some quick Kaye's Takes:

- Re-signing the starting CBs through 2026 is good stability, even if Jackson's contract doesn't prohibit you from investing a high pick in another CB.

- Moehrig is exactly what the #Panthers needed from a tone-setting perspective at safety. He's an excellent run defender and has a nose for the ball as a playmaker.

- Wharton and Brown complement each other, really. Brown is the two-down run defender, while Wharton can play a few different positions as an interior pass rusher. They can rotate. Carolina clearly wants to use DL platoons, and their additions help that with DB and AR.

- Jones fits the opportunistic model of free agency. Get a guy off this rookie deal with upside and flashes and see if he can be a bigger contributor in your scheme. Good size and mid-20s. I get it even if it's seemingly underwhelming at edge on Day 1.

i honestly feel like that jackson signing means we are going high on CB in draft.

Josh Klein:

Utilizing restraint and not letting their top free agent or trade target go because the compensation got too high was not something the Panthers were doing two years ago.

When your job is on the line, you make moves to appease your boss and for short term success.

Having a multi-year plan and sticking to it is a recipe for (dare I say it) sustained excellence.

You need to hit on the players you bring in, but I am a big believer that good process leads to good results most of the time.

The last 24 hours was good process, imo.

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
