I would make him a swing tackle first, reserve guard second.  We have Zavala, who played well.  The OL is set.

Corbett, Mays, Lewis, Hunt, Ekwonu, Moton, Zavala, Christensen, Nijman

I doubt we keep more than nine on the roster, so these hybrids are valuable.  I expect the Panthers to draft a RT to play behind Moton and to take the RT job in a year.

HOWEVER, BC can play RT and at age 29, he could compete for RT.  I wonder if this depth behind Moton prevents the Panthers from drafting a RT this year?

I hope we did not overpay--no more than $3-4m.

1 year $2.78m fully guaranteed.

Interesting. I might have tried to get 2 years for security if Moton leaves after this season.  He might be thinking, however, if he wins the RT job, he does not want to play a year at $3m.  Pure speculation.

Brady Christensen re-signs with panthers Carolina Panthers logo

Grade: A

Versatile offensive lineman Brady Christensen is coming back to the Carolina Panthers on a one-year deal worth just under $2.8 million.

Christensen has filled in admirably at tackle, guard, and center over his time in Carolina, and that kind of versatility can be hard to come by. It's a great depth signing, especially given the importance of competent OL play in the NFL.

C Brady Christensen re-signs with Carolina Panthers

  • 2024 PFF Grade: 63.6
  • 2024 PFF WAR: 0.02
  • Contract: One year, $2.787 million ($2.787 million guaranteed)
  • PFF Projected Contract: Two years, $7.5 million ($4 million guaranteed)
  • PFF Deal Grade: Average

A solid depth re-signing for Carolina, Christensen had two games in 2024 where he earned a PFF grade above 75.0. He also brings valuable versatility, having started at both left tackle and center last season and at every position along the offensive line throughout his career.

    • You don’t even need 1b because Tepper is the only one foolish enough to wheel that deal.    Player wise? Jake’s elbow. JR and Pep getting sideways, no Carruth, Cam’s shoulder, Luke’s concussions, it would be a long list of stuff. You can take it down to certain plays in games. Fox chasing 2 point conversions in the SB would be on my list. RMJr slipping at the end of that same game was not helpful.
    • Ultimately this just amounts to heavy revisionist history. I mean you aren't talking to someone that just popped out the womb a week ago. I was here all throughout the predraft process. The overwhelming majority of the fanbase felt like this was a fine situation and the best situation for a rookie QB to go to compared to Houston for example. The hype for Young and our "rockstar" staff was off the charts. No one could dare speak cautious skepticism of his abilities or they would be neg repped into oblivion. Only after he had one of statistical worst rookie seasons of the last 25 years did we get this narrative now that his rookie season actually shouldn't count. Complete malarkey if you ask me.
    • On the field? Since I guess it qualifies as multiple instances it might not count, but have the damn refs throw some flags on illegal hits to Cam's head in SB50. If that doesn't count, 1A. Cotchery caught it 1B. Kasey keeps that kickoff inbounds. Off the field? 1A. Team is sold to anyone but Tepper 1B. We have the patience not to mortgage the franchise on that Bryce trade. Stroudwpuldve been the better pick but he's not worth it either.
