Jets' Jenkins in familiar territory in Carolina

"When I retire, I'll be moving back to Charlotte just because it's cheaper, it's slower, it's more peaceful, it's less trouble for your kids to get into," Jenkins said. "It's going to be a beautiful thing and that's why I can't complain. When it's all said and done, and when you look at it through the good and the bad out there, it helped me develop the character that has made me who I am now.

"That's why I said I have nothing to be mad at.

Kris was a monster of a player when he was healthy. And that year that he was calling people out for not having heart, he was, sadly, right on the money. But doing something like that doesn't rest well on your teammates and management, whether you are right or wrong. Once he said it, the exit sign light went on and he wasn't long for the team anymore.

What he said on the way out of Charlotte probably had less to do with his real feelings and more of him telling himself, "It's okay, I didn't like that place anyhow." But sometimes you don't get to pick where your heart says is home.

He's a big guy that wears his emotions on his sleeve. I wish he could have worked out here and I'm betting both he and the coaching staff here has wished the same over the years.

    • Btw... only Mitch fugging Marner has a better +/- than Key 🔑!!! And, Mitchy needed 5 more games and almost 100 more shifts to get there.
    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
