REPORT: Panthers like Mykel Williams

Don’t worry guys this rumor will change in the coming month leading up to the draft. We started with Tet McMillan then Jalon Walker and the past two weeks it’s been Mykel.

My guess as the next player: CB Will Johnson.

Before going back to Jalon Walker going into the draft.

Keep in mind, Jalon has his pre-draft workout for teams on April 17th. He’s a first rate athlete and I fully expect him to wow the coaches, scouts, media the same way Shemar Stewart did at the Combine

I hope they pick Walker.  He is actually a little bigger than Thomas Davis and he was pretty good.

If we stay @8 Jalon Walker would be my preference as well

He’s from NC and Panthers organization has selected Carolina based players in the 1st round lately: Jaycee Horn, Ikem Elwonu, Xavier Legette

Also we need LB depth/future starter (Jewell is 30 and Rozeboom is on 1yr deal) and EDGE pass rush - Jalon plays both spots! perfect

Jewell had a 56.5 PFF grade in 2024 which was just higher than Wallace who had a 56 as a rookie. Jewell is a backup level player and should be the depth.

The big safety sounds more like TD to me. Emman something? Also a SC player, not that that should matter at all.

    • I need to actually do a full analysis but I think the issue was more that we'd rarely have top-to-bottom awesome drafts but we'd frequently have drafts where only 2-3 players panned out, but the 1st is a Pro Bowler and the other two solid starters or backups. We rarely had drafts where only 1 player was good, and we never had absolute useless drafts. At the very least we always had one really, really good guy. The worst was probably 2005 where we got Thomas Davis (Hall of Honor-quality player) and Geoff Hangartener. Evan Mathis was good, but only after he left.
    • Hurney wasn’t good with contracts but I think he was probably above average at drafting.  Not saying he was great.  Just that most draft classes are worthless.
    • Ehh, teams earlier this season double and tripled teamed him with decent success. The reason he beasted out so much with Miami was for some reason they did not much at all. Bad call on their part. But that is his purpose. If he is eating up people that is huge, and theoretically should give others the ability to make a play. But his surrounding cast to do that isn’t great. Brown is something OCs have to put a lot of time to plan for.
