DeAngelo Wiliams to Pats? (Just an idea)

DeAngelo is in his last year of his contract. If we were seriously thinking about trading him, we would've have already locked up his extension IMHO. You cannot trade someone that you don't have under contract (remember Peppers?). The only way it happens is really THIS season prior to the trade deadline. I don't see it happening, but a lot of things can change til then.

Problem is...our FO absolutely sucks at selling our players for draft picks. DeAngelo is a definate 1st rd pick...and probably another pick that's compensatory along with that. Or an Randy Moss & 3rd rounder/DeAngelo trade...

but the Pats do not give up picks.

Let me state for the record...I love D. Williams and would love to see him play out his career at Carolina.

I am just a realist and understand that this is just a business.

This isn't the first time I've brought up the "get what you can out of someone while you still can" regarding DeAngelo and I've even thrown Smitty in there too. It's just business.

williams won't be going anywhere. we'll have plenty of money to re-sign him and every reason to keep him

btw...what's with this "fellow patriots fan" or "fellow bucs fan" crap?

i'm not fan of either of those teams. i hate the cheatriots. calling us fans of those teams? lol

thread = fail. worst idea in the world.why would we want to see the patriots improve? had it not been for taped practices we would have won that ring.

patriots championships have an asterisk beside them. too bad they got busted for it or they might have had that perfect record. lol

Wow, just wow. You don't trade away your franchise players, unless you absolutely have to (see Julius Peppers). Are we deep at RB? Yes. Does that mean we should trade D. Will away? HELL NO! And some are suggesting we do it for a mere second rounder?? Wow, and I thought our FO was stupid.

If anything, you trade Goodson or Sutton for a couple of extra draft picks. You don't trade away one of the only running backs in the league to average over 5 yards a carry because you have some solid backups--especially when both Williams and Stewart get along so well and want to be here.

If his contract is up, and he's a UFA anyway, all the Pats have to do is throw money at him and he's there... In much the same way, we could just throw money and have Randy Moss at the end of the season. Wouldn't need to trade.

However, no way on earth I see NE signing a vet RB, they will draft one (or more) and probably have great success in doing so. RB's typically have a very short shelf-life in this league, and NE is clearly shrewd on understanding of personnel. I suspect someone like Washington, Dallas, Detroit, Oakland, etc... to be the one's throwing cash under DWill's nose after his contract expires.
