Clausen versus Weinke- a better comparison

Everyone is talking about Clausen versus Bradford but honestly what about Clausen against our very own Chris Weinke who was a fourth rounder who never developed.

Weinke game 1- 13-22 for 223 yards- 1TD- win against Minnesota

Weinke game 2- 27-41 for 276 yards- 0 TDs- loss to Atlanta

Clausen- game 1- 16-33 for 188 yards- 0TD- loss to Cincinnatti

Clausen game 2- 11-21 for 146 yards- 1TD- loss to the Saints.

Weinke's offense scored 20 points a game- Clausen's 10 points.

Look at who Weinke had around him- no better cast than Clausen, in fact you could argue it was worse.

Go back and look at Collins first 2 starts as well and you will clearly see that right now Clausen is the 3rd best rookie we have had start for us behind Weinke and Collins. And that doesn't bode that well for the future.

i honestly attribute much of clausen's struggles to not getting reps with the starters during camp and preseason.

the comparisons you guys are making should not only be vs rookies, but vs rookies who came in for injured or benched starters into the regular season.

did anyone see kolb fumble his first or second snap when he came in for vick yesterday? those sort of things happen when you have been away from the starting offense, not because you are a bad quarterback.

again the mistakes in these first few games resemble much of what should have been ironed out in the preseason.

Joe Flacco?

Joe Flacco?

Flacco has started since game one of 2008 so I don't see your point.

Ohh his first two games he definitely balled out.

Game 1 15/29 for 129 yards a 4.4ypc average and 0tds....he blew them away here.

Game 2 13/19 for 129 yards again...oooo better ypc average...wait for it, wait for it.. 0 TD's 2INT...OMG MVP!

Through his first 5 games he had 1 ONE ONE TD vs SEVEN 7, 7 interceptions.

Different kind offensive thinking when Weinke started. Fox doesnt throw the ball as much as Seifert did.

Go back and look at the games, we ran more with Weinke as Quarterback the first 2 games then we did with Clausen. In Weinke's first game was ran 30 times for 93 yards. In his second start we ran 20 times for 84 yards.

In Clausen's games we ran the first game we ran 22 times for 87 yards including 6 by Clausen. In the second game we ran 23 times for 118.

Another myth debunked.

Face it folks. Through 2 games Clausen hasn't looked good at all and didn't look as good as Weinke.

    • JJ Jansen not being on this list proves that it is shite.

A couple of former Panthers and a hand full of "draft- What-If's" on the list. If this nothing else, this type of list shows the down stream impact of terrible player personnel and scouting that was in place here for years.
