Quite frankly, the owners are terrified by the idea of the player decertification. It would open them up to a billion anti-trust lawsuits they wouldn't have a chance of winning.

According to Bob Kraft, one of the main four leading the owners' charge, there's now a feeling that the CBA can get done.

At Tuesday's ownership meeting in Chicago, Patriots owner Robert Kraft said that a new deal could come before the end of the 2010 season.

According to Barry Wilner of the Associated Press, Kraft said "we're moving ahead," and that he'd "like to see this get done before the season ends." He also acknowledged that, in his view, the objective is realistic.

Let's suppose that the CBA is finalized next week, and the next day Richardson announces new contracts for Kalil, Beason, DeAngelo, and Anderson, who in my opinion has earned it.

Does that change your opinion of him this season?

My opinion of him hasn't changed at all.

Why anyones has is beyond me. The guy has all the info none of us have and desperately wants to win a championship before he passes.

I've chosen to not spend a dime on the NFL this year in response to JR's choices, but I don't think any less of the man.

Well it's mostly just fans trying to be hopeful about something and thinking that once the new CBA is signed the Panthers will go into 2011 having signed every single free agent, including their own, and begin a glorious decade long pax pantera.

if there is a lockout, the owners won't have to pay the players anything but will still receiver their tv money so they'll be raking it in hand over fist.

If a deal gets done this year then Jerry will look even worse in my mind. He trashed the team, cut all the veterans and went cheap because he expected and even wanted a lockout. Since there wasn't a lockout, then his strategy failed.

As for signing all the long termers, that list you mentioned doesn't even scratch the surface. Every person he brought in are on 1 year contracts. All the restricted and unrestricted agents contracts are up this year and several players are at the end of their rookie contracts. So there would have to be a lot more signings before I could say we were in good shape for the future.

I would have to see the CBA and the cap before knowing how set up we are. But I would expect that a lot of teams still had good years this year, didn't wholesale tank the team and still will look pretty good for the future.

So no I still think he went too far this year and didn't give a crap about the fans to line his pockets.

Nope.

Those players are already here, and should still be here in the future. He still let this season die, due to the CBA, and signing guys we know we'll try to sign anyway will not change that.

Now, he can improve his image in the off-season by forking over money and letting Hurney and the new coach build a better team.

i mean , i understand the ppl spending a poo ton of money this season and getting bad product being mad, but im rreally looking forward to the fact we can buy out half the NFL free agents next season with our cap space

My opinion of him won't change though. He's already chosen 31 owners over the thousands of loyal fans. He can say whatever he wants but he's shown his true colors. I'll never buy a PSL as a result of this season.

Resigning our core to extensions would help but I want to see some movement in free agency. Without a new CBA alot of the players slated to be unrestricted FAs last offseason were instead RFAs. You're almost getting two seasons worth of FAs this upcoming offseason if indeed the new CBA gets finished.

I'm not saying I want a couple overhyped guys getting 100 million dollar contracts, but we need to be very active in trying to bring in solid mid level guys.

My opinion of him changed because he knew he was fielding a weak team, but raised prices anyways. If he was going to field a crap team, he really should have froze prices for the year. If a CBA gets signed and he opens up the wallet, all of this will be moot. I think a CBA will get done like Fiz said because of NFLPA decertification and a planned collusion case against owners.
