We could finish 8-8...

I originally said 6 games so I will see what happens the next 2 weeks before deciding to adjust it or not. I don't know why everyone is so surprised we are 0-5. We knew it would take time to get things rollling although most thought the defense would struggle more than the offense. But I predicted we could easily be 0-5 or 1-4 at the break although I thought we would beat Tampa. Still this is not that different from what you should have expected. Frankly we should win at least 2 of the next 4. And from there we could win another 2 or 3. I don't think we will go 0-16 or 1-15 this year.

When looking at the schedule and remembering how the Panthers SHOULD play and counting wins/losses is different than how they ARE playing and counting wins/losses. I fall into this trap myself thinking "My god how can the Rams be good" but somehow they are winning and we aren't.

Call me crazy but I would rather see us continue lose so we can get a top pick in every round (except for the 2nd). I hate to actually stoop this low but I really feel like the worse we are this year the more likely the front office will be willing to spend more money and build this team right for the future. If we end up 6-10 or better than I think the changes will be less drastic and we will continue to see more of the same.

8-8? No thanks.

8-8 will keep Moore on board as our starter. I'm fine with him as a back-up, and Clausen isn't better than him currently if at all (no way to know), but I'd rather have a top tier QB here for the future. I'm tired of game managers. Moore is not top tier.

8-8 could technically also cause a re-signing of Fox. Highly unlikely, but 8-8 would ask the question of should we. 8-8 would also give us all hope for the future, which is great to have, but if the FO doesn't do anything in free agency again and drafts poorly, 2011 will not be what we want it to be. We'll have an 8-8 team.

I do NOT want us to tank, mind you. But I think it'd help this team more to continue to struggle the rest of the way. Why? Draft pick spot for one. But also, finishing with a bad record means Fox IS out the door, things WILL change in 2011, etc. Things will get to a point where they MUST improve. Going 8-8 could keep us right where we are, right where we've always been...the land of mediocrity.

It has to hit rock bottom before it gets better. 8-8 is simply average Carolina football.

I agree 100% and it sucks it has to be this way but for the sake of our future it would be beneficial for us to continue struggling

It doesn't take one draft year of high picks to make your team better. The Lions struggled for years and now finally have some pretty decent talent over there and still can't win games. The draft is such a crap shoot anyway. I think there are a lot more negative effects effects of losing games then there are positive effects.

So, that makes us 6-10, sure, we could win some games that I marked as losses (Falcons mainly) , but than I figured we could easily lose a few that I marked as Wins (49ers, Cardinals, hell, any of those Wins could be losses the way we are playing)... so I see us going 6-10 if we start playing a bit better. If we play to our full potential, and make a total 180, we could go 8-8, but that would require MUCH better play.
