NFL execs on the Panthers offseason

I'd wanna know who those heads belong to.

For example, if they spend this offseason improving the defense only to have it still look mediocre or worse in the coming season, then Id say bye bye to Evero.

(half expected to do that after last year)

I would very much expect a bad to mediocre defense. It is largely bad to mediocre players, so that is to be expected, IMO.

Now, all that being said, on paper it has improved. So we should expect that it improves. If that does not happen.....we should be expecting a new DC.

The problem with bringing Evero back is that decision falls on DC or at least that was the public stance. If he fails then DC is responsible. They are building around him big this year and are projected to draft heavey on the D side. DC doesn't have to be hands on that side but willingly brining back a coordinator that went 32/32 while putting up historic numbers would still fall at his feet hard. What quality DC would he get for year 3 while probably being on the hot seat in thst situation? I do not get why Evero is still here from any angle.

All roads lead back to David Tepper.

I am not sure if it was or wasn't his decision to bring him back, but I am willing to bet that he fires him next offseason.

He was saying so but who knows. I agree. Dude has been nothing but empty hype. The opposite of a McDermott here.

Dan I am generally disappointed in overall. I think he is an averagish NFL pro personnel guy but leans heavily Fitterer in terms of college prospects.

But, even IF he fails here, I am gonna always love him as a player. I hope our fanbase can be big enough to separate him the GM vs. him the Panthers great.

That's tough for the Huddle as the place that shamefully bullied him as a player when he was here.

Crazy how we throw around Panthers great for guy that never played a full season.

The Jaycee Horn of LBs, dude played 59 out of 112 possible games in his career.

He had 25 tackles in the fuging Super Bowl and played like a kamikaze pilot. Dan Morgan was fun as hell to watch as a player.

This is something I have been repeatedly trying to warn Panther fans of. This is gonna be a pretty bad team next season.

The W's and L's are going to matter less(to a point) than if we start to look like the bones of a functional roster emerge.

There is no quick fix coming. This is going to take time and a healthy dose of competent roster building to turn around.

100%!! Last year we focused completely on offense, and it made leaps, especially when Bryce settled in for the 2nd half of the season. We kept all those players and improved our RB stable this free agency! This year we focused almost entirely on D, specifically our run D. I expect it to jump to at least average, which would be awesome considering they are starting at dead frikin last.

Our draft class from last year, however, doesn't exactly make me tingle. I know, I know..."traded away our first round pick, give them time to develop", but still. The 1 gem was Coker, a UDFA who I really like, but he ain't exactly Randy Moss. We have to do better! We can't afford to only build via Free agency.

He has no real allegiance to Evero and if things don't turn around quickly enough for Tepper, I could see that move being made.

Allegiance? No.

One of my initial worries about Canales was that he might be too nice a guy to fire people who oughtta be dumped, but he did dump some defensive staffers this offseason so there's that.

Question now is where does it go from here...

I wouldn't say completely. 4 of 7 picks were defense. 9 of 17 free agents defense

Fair enough. I was referring to our "splash" moves: trading up for XL and Brooks, signing not 1 but 2 big time FA guards, even signing a "QB whisperer" as a head coach. Everything was done to make Bryce better.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
