Why it's a dumb move - Part Deux

Mr. Scot

i don't understand the love for skipper. he's john fox, jr.

meeks is the only person on this team i would hand the team over to at this point and even that is a questionable decision.

I have been told by those who would know that he is not a good communicator. Yes, he knows defense and can call a game. But without excellent communication skills a coach will never reach his full potential .

This may be why our defense seems confused so often.

This is why I dont want Meeks. Communication triumphs almost everything in football and life.

Pike has been in the system since TC started. How in the hell can St. Pierre be in a better position to win?

This is a big ole' F U.

He's also a rookie who came from a spread offense. He is just as much of a project as Armanti Edwards, and probably won't be ready for a good 3 years, if ever.

Who cares.

We are going young, let's see what he has. Is St. Pierre going to be on the team next season? How about Pike?

I think you have a media that is reporting any trash they want. Why wouldn't they? Fox has never given them any gold mines. They also know fox will continue being fox, dispite what they report.

If there was a mutiny going on....ya wouldn't have to wait for the media to report it. It would be a bigger mess than dallas.

Once again. Think even scot is grasping at straws.

The whole idea he is starting St Pierre as a flip off to the organization or to get fired is stupid in my opinion and flies against everything Fox has done since he got here 9 years ago. Plus it would give any GM or owner who wanted to hire him pause in their decisionmaking. It totally benefits Fox to leave here on good terms given that Richardson is considered a very influential owner. Fox knows that burning bridges bites you in the butt in this league often well after the event that causes the problem.

To start St Pierre if Fox did not believe it would be the best decision he could make would also lend less credibility to his decisionmaking ability. Being giving a poor hand to play is one thing but then playing it poorly is another and much bigger problem.

I have no idea what Fox thinks or believes at this point but honestly it makes no sense for him to act spiteful or try and get fired at this point. It goes against his general demeanor and the way he has been a good soldier and employee for almost a decade.

Maybe Reed and Gantt know better as they are closer to the team but I for one thinks from a business point of view and for his future, it would be a stupid move, something he has avoided up to now.

Maybe, just maybe, Fox actually wants to try to win the game, and he believes that St. Pierre gives them, at least, some chance to accomplish that.

I know that theory doesn't make for good sports talk radio or newspaper print, but in reality, it's a hell of a lot more likely than him giving the Panthers the finger.

I will buy this only if he does not sit him at some point during the game.

yeah, but you can look at 2007-today. Fox claiming to put the best option at QB on the field.....simply isn't what he has done year to year. He has clearly mishandled the QB situations in 2007, 2009 and now 2010.

if that were true and Fox ONLY cared about winning a game. Armanti Edwards makes more sense short term. From a pure athletic standpoint you could spread a defense out w/ 4 WRs and give him room to run.

After what you have seen this year with Moore and Clausen, do you still believe that Delhomme didn't give us the best chance to win?

last year that wasn't the case at all. jake wasn't the one that gave us the best chance to win. he did nothing but fail. there is no reason to believe that he would do anything but continue that failure this year. you saw how quickly he got hurt in cleveland? what makes you think he would last any longer here this year. QBs have been getting massacred. there are quite a few vet QBs that might have been able to withstand that, but jake sure isn't one of them.

From what I've heard from people in the know, St. Pierre threw numerous interceptions in practice this week and has a much more awkward throwing motion than Clausen. He starts his motion from his hip and kind of throws across his body. The fact that he's starting over Pike and Armanti is an indictment of our staff's lack of belief in those guys than a pat on the back for St. Pierre.

I don't remember the team ever being this bad with Jake. Yeah, he looked bad but we were still competitive. It was easy to second guess Fox at the time, but it's pretty obvious now that Moore wouldn't have been any better long term and could have been worse.
