I wouldn't be totally against it, would depend a lot on the situation, contract, coach we'll be bringing in, scheme we'll be running....

This is along the lines I was thinking. To me it all depends on who the coach is and if he thinks its a good idea.

There are two to blame for the mess is Washington. One is Haynsworth the other is Shannahan.

only way i would be for it is if the contract was incentive based. even then, there are other FA DTs i would rather have. they might not have as much talent, but they would more than make up for it by what they put out on the field every week.

haynesworth wouldn't be good for a struggling or growing team and he isn't a good example for young players. his apathy would set the tone.

if the team had a lot of older guys on the team, it might be different, but with so many young and impressionable players there, haynesworth would rub off on them. i would really worry about hardy.

the dide is much more likely to drag the team down than help with production on the field. he'd most likely be cut in a year or two...another "addition by subtraction" move.

Albert is a 4-3 DT and not a 3-4 NT. Pretty simple. When he signed w/ Washington they made him a promise.....they specifically told him they would not go to a 3-4. First thing they did was change to a 3-4.

Albert certainly has a role in this mess in Washington. However, imo, I think he is getting more credit for it than he deserves. Washington really screwed up. Shanny also imo is probably a bigger factor in the mess than Albert.

I think if you run a 4-3. His talent makes up for whatever "issues" come w/ Albert. Now, he isn't worth what Washington gave him. No one player is. Would I take Albert in Carolina? Definately, under the right circumstances. For a HUGE contract like Washington gave him? No. Would I want him on a team young and rebuilding? No......he needs to go to a team ready to win now.

Signing Haynesworth would free us up from looking at DT in the draft as a need. If we sign Haynesworth to a two or three year performanced based contract, that should give us enough time until a talented DT comes out from College. Or we could draft a DT in the later rounds, and coach him up over three years to replace Haynesworth. It's a win/win situation. Haynesworth playing for his hometown team should keep him interested enough.
