Name the most boring coach/#1 pick we could have

Don't know or care about boring because personally the only football related thing that excites me are wins.

But worst pick possible is any college coach, especially one with no head coaching or even coordinator experience in the NFL.

I mean don't get me wrong, I liked nothing better than when one of Fox's game plans that could have been scribbled on a Denny's napkin steamrolled the more polished team. I wouldn't trade all those beatdowns of "offensive genius" Jon Gruden/Sean Payton for the world no matter how boring the play-by-play looked. Problem is that brand of football has been misfiring for us the better part of two seasons.

Russ Grimm

Jimmy Clausen/Trade down

QB with second pick to compete with Jimmy

This is what I think. I think you're right on Sam, people are fooling themselves thinking he will even try to bring in Harbaugh with Luck. He is a conservative owner and acts accordingly. People get all exited about Luck they start getting ahead of themselves and forgetting about the owner. Andrew is a good possibility, Jim not so much.I will be absolutely shocked and will eat crow all year long if they are both brought in.

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
