What kind of offense do you want to see next year?

Actually the offense we have been running since Davidson took over is an Erhardt-Perkins offense. Frankly it is the same system run by several teams notably, KC, Denver, and New England. The system is sound but the way we have run it is not. I would be fine running the same system which doesn't require a bunch of relearning just doing it with more of a passing emphasis, more multiple wide receivers, and less predictability. The system isn't the problem so much as the playcalling and execution.

After several years of rather boring run-up-the-gut-no-matter-the-down-and-distance football, I'de like to see a radical shift to the following:

1) Once a game, just punt on third down. It's not like we can make third down conversions anyway and nobody would see it coming.

2) Do a college style option play. We might go through a few QBs but we do that anyway.

3) More laterals. Adds to the excitement.

4) More "grape" style plays where we put all the receivers in the middle of the field and just chuck the ball in that general direction.

5) Hook and ladder

6) More personal fouls. I doubt the 5K matters that much to their checkbooks and it would do wonders for our reputation as mean bastards.

7) Give everyone on the offense the chance to pass the ball. I bet Smitty could throw it a good 45 yards if given the chance.

8) Institute mandatory dancing on the sideline when we score (even a field goal)

In the Fox era we've been using a stripped down version of the Coryell offense. Basically, it's a power running game with a vertical passing attack, and the only difference between what Coryell ran in the 70s and what we've been doing under Fox is Coryell used more receivers.

I'm assuming that most people here would like to see a more wide-open offense. Are you looking for a Martz-type system (Coryell taken to the outer limits), a west coast offense, or something out of left field? What do you think?

just tired of these short, run dominated games, I want to see us air it out more often
