lol at the people saying "Hire Harbaugh! Grimm hasn't ever been above OL coach!"

Harbaugh = 1 year QB coach for Oakland. Wooooooo.

that is NFL experience. Harbaugh is a HC. Grimm doesn't have any experience beyond being an OL coach.....and he played OL. That ain't the kind of resume that screams HC

Couple issues from the Cowboys

Jones said he has a list of coaching candidates, a list he wouldn't reveal, but there are a few issues he must sort out before making a hire.

Once he fulfills his requirements of the Rooney Rule, which makes NFL teams interview minority candidates, he has to decide if he will make the hire before the current collective bargaining agreement ends on March 4.

If the NFL and the players union fail to reach an agreement, there is a possibility of a lockout. The league would still conduct its draft, but it's uncertain whether teams would pay coaches during a lockout.

Might the CBA delay the process?

Might a big name coach say "why don't you sort out this mess you created before i sign anything, Jerry?"

Harbaugh is just the type of young and bright coach the organization has been known to covet very much like Fox used to be. Grimm doesn't have the upside, didn't do well this season and has been passed on in head coach discussions many times before.

My real wish is Gruden but that is just a dream...

Couple things to consider:

1. There is a tampering rule that does not allow coaches of playoff teams to interview at various times during the playoffs and I don't think a team is allowed to make a hire between the Conference Championships and the Super Bowl because it would detract from the 2 weeks of useless hype leading up to the SB. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there are some time-line rules in place.

2. The amount of time it takes to hire a new HC may be the best indication from Jerry Richardson as to the direction and progress of the CBA talks.

3. It's not considered tampering to contact the probable first pick of the draft and tell him- the kid you're getting ready to pay about $60M up front- who you are considering hiring as the HC. Then you tell same kid to go talk to his father about your candidates and let us know who you'd prefer....

4. I'd be willing to bet that the old saying, "Defense wins championships," is almost incorrect these days. Anyone ever looked at the playoff head coaches of the past 3-4 seasons and seen that the majority of playoff teams have head coaches that come from the O-side of the ball rather than a defensive position? I haven't looked, but it wouldn't surprise me. And that alone would probably convince me where to look for my next HC.
