Read this article on ESPN about Denver getting 2nd pick in draft.

And I found this interesting:

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck and Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert are expected to be among the top five picks, according to projections by ESPN's Todd McShay, if the two juniors declare for the draft.

I have not heard anything about Gabbert. I heard Luck, Newton, or Mallet were the top QB's. Anyone have some info on him? (yes I am lazy)

Gabbert is absolutely going to destroy the combine. He's got crazy arm strength, accuracy, and athletic ability. His glaring weaknesses are pocket awareness and dealing with pressure, and he won't have to deal with that during 7-on-7's. I expect him to sky rocket up draft boards during draft preparation (all of this assuming he comes out early).

If he wasn't such a pussy I'd take him before anyone not named Luck.

Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert announced Monday that he will forgo his senior season with the Tigers and enter the 2011 NFL draft.

A two-year starter as Chase Daniel's successor at Mizzou, Gabbert completed 61.2 percent of his passes and posted a combined 40:18 TD-to-INT ratio in his sophomore and junior seasons. Unlike Daniel, Gabbert is ideally built (6'5/235) and offers plenty of arm strength. Questions facing Gabbert will be his ability to adjust from a shotgun-only spread offense to a pro-style scheme, as well as suspect pocket presence and downfield accuracy. If he impresses in pre-draft workouts, Gabbert has the potential to be a top-ten overall pick.

Just watched his highlights...

Long wind-up

Jumps when he throws sometimes, others, off his back foot

rolls out of the pocket and out of bounds like Clausen

Doesn't turn it over much

Reminds me of a tall Clausen, strengths and weaknesses.

I don't know about release being an issue...there's a handful of really quick throwing motions in this low quality video with bad music:

I don't see why this kid can't be really good...but I'm not saying use the 1st overall pick of the draft on him; that's still a reach

      It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth

      Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
