i think its funny how Burns was considered an overrated limited player on here for so long to now other players dont have a higher ceiling then him.

Idk man for a long time there were people who gave Burns the benefit of the doubt. I think really it's about learning and adapting going forward. We already can't draft worth a damn. If we're targeting pass rushers we need to reconsider past approaches and try something different so we don't keep ending up in the same conundrum.

Well That was a very small number and i was one of them.

Burns has never filled out his frame and worked on his torque to become a relevant run blocker. But because of his pass rush skills (minus his missed sacks/bad angles), you’re stuck putting out there on running downs needing to overcompensate elsewhere on your front-7 in run defense. Frustrating to have.

When the boom/busts that have the run defense floor, it’s a bit more manageable than having teams just gash us for 5.0+ ypc consistently with some flashy guy whiffing on sacks, eventually getting to 8-10 on the season.

I agree. If you at least have a baseline as a good or great run defender, then you can at least be a functional rotational defender. But, some teams would argue the opposite in that their one trick pony passer rusher serve the inverse purpose.

But, a lot of these reasons are why I want to trade down and take some of the heat off of that "top 10 pick" luster. Also want to add more top 90/100 draft capital, obviously. Then maybe we get into the range where some of the actual higher end SKILL level pass rushers like Green or Ezeiruaku are. IMO, those are guys with way, way, WAY higher floors than a lot of the other prospects that are linked to us.

I was too. I bought his talk of being a leader heading into 2023 and was excited as well. Ultimately that and the hype never amounted to a hill of beans. We got bamboozled. That man is sitting on what should be generational wealth now. He's doing just fine I assure you. Let's just hope Dan Morgan and Brandt Tilis are better equipped to identify talented defensive linemen who are also motivated to win.

How is it that everyone knows who the Panthers like 2 weeks before the draft?  We have had no visits, etc. with him--where are they getting these vibes?

Some media sources look at the team needs and recent moves to come to a conclusion.  Then it snow balls until most of them agree to become a consensus of majority.  I don’t think anyone knows really what will happen.  The Panthers have recently signed edge players in the 6-4 260 type mold which leads me to believe they are looking at Mykel.  If they took McMillan it shouldn’t shock anyone cuz we were speculating to begin with

That's what happens when you don't come close to that ceiling. You are an overrated, limited player or, much worse, a bust.

This class is loaded with talent and loaded with flawed prospects. It's gonna be more of a gamble than normal.

Yeah, weird class. Light on top tier talent but overall I think it's deep with NFL talent.

Yeah in a dream scenario, someone trades with us, ahead of NO for Sanders.  That, or 1 of the 2 top OLs are our only shots at a trade down IMO.  Basically, that would be PIT or long shot SEA or LAR.

We land someone like Ezeiruaku, then with added picks, have the assets to get more immediate impact guys.

That is my dream scenario, as well.

My main think about the saints is no matter who trades up= Panthers win saints lose

Saints use a few of their 3s and 4s and future picks to trade up to #4. They just trade assets for either Dart or sanders LOLOLOLOLOLOLz = Panthers win(same for nfc south)

Panthers get a BY haul for trading 8. Panthers hopefully pick form the vast pool of DE, DT, TE, edge and add talent. Panthers wins and saints have to start old age Hill at QB.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
