Those Who Like Palmer, He's Demanding Trade

Carson Palmer will demand a trade from the Bengals, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

According to Mortensen, Palmer is willing to "play the retirement card" if he doesn't get his wish. We're not exactly sure what Palmer is thinking here. Set to make $11.5 million in 2011, his rapidly declining play will attract limited interest on the trade market. If he stays in Cincy, he is at least likely to get one more season as the starter while they groom a new quarterback. There is likely more to the story here. Jan. 23 - 1:39 pm et

meh, his contract is more of a concern than his arm in bringing him here I think. I don't know that he is worth that much money, but I do think he could still be better than he was last season for several seasons while we groomed a replacement.

According to Mort, Palmer is willing to pull out the retirement card to push for a trade. They say he would be interested in going back to the west coast, and that is why the 49ers would be a spot he's interested in. Giving the situation here, he probably would be opposed to playing here. Outside of this fanbase and guys in the locker room, many see the Panthers as a team that will not be competing for a championship any time soon.

Well, I just don't get this. He can't be traded. Flat out. So somewhere he is getting so God awful advice from his agent, unless they are trying to force him to be released. But then he misses out on the $11.5 million he would have made. Still a really bizarre decision considering the circumstances.

That said, Carson can still play. He only really struggled when he was under a lot of pressure. I wouldn't want him on that contract, but I wouldn't say no to bringing him in, however I think he would be a hot commodity.
