Kiper takes Locker and Mallet off his big board (top 25)

Kiper has taken Washington’s Jake Locker and Arkansas’ Ryan Mallett out of his top 25 and he does not have a quarterback among his top five. Carolina has the top pick, but the early indications are there isn’t a quarterback worthy of that choice. With strong interviews and good workouts at the combine or in private, Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert may be able to rise.

But it’s looking more and more like Carolina will be choosing between a pair of defensive linemen – Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley and Clemson defensive end Da’Quan Bowers. They’re the top two players on Kiper’s board and they’re among 10 defensive linemen in the top 25.

Of course, this is all about how much you value Kiper's opinion, if anyone does at all. In this case, I tend too agree w/ him, this isn't news to many of us.

1. Kiper < most things in general

2...

Gabbert, Mallett, Newton, Locker, Ponder, Kaepernick, Dalton, McElroy....

those are 8 guys I can think of at the top of my head that compile the clusterf*ck of QBs in this draft. Looking at this, its really hard to see who will do the best transitioning to the NFL and become a strong leader and player. This is why I honestly don't mind taking a shot at one of them if they are still available in the 4th. What do we have to lose if we scoop up a handful of day 1 starters before that pick.

Kiper is as good as anyone when it comes to predicting who goes where (not that anybody is close to perfect in that regard).

Predicting who will actually be successful in the NFL? He's about 50-50 there.

Kiper's problem is generally not knowing team needs, especially small market teams.

Mayock is still the authority, but I haven't seen his big board or mock. I never felt as though QB was an option for us once Luck made his decision.

    • If you need someone to run your multi-billion dollar business, maaayyyybe don't hire a guy whose previous work experience includes repeated blows to the head and literal brain damage but IDK.
    • Extrapolate that with every QB for that matter. I guarantee you there's quite a bit of missed opportunities and yards left on the field for everyone. Many NFL QBs deal with WRs not putting in A+ effort, subpar o-line play and other deficiencies. The great ones are able to rise above these issues and create opportunities for plays. Guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes can both play in and out of structure, as well as find ways to get yards when things break down and mask mistakes by throwing guys open, creating opportunities from nothing, etc. Bryce Young has only shown he's able to make things happen when the rest of the team picks up his slack. Very rarely does he create those opportunities himself. When this is a consistent pattern year after year with Bryce where he shows up lackluster, it's a concern. This is year three and he should be elevating the team as a first overall pick this franchise traded up for.  He was far from elevating anyone against JAX. In fact, he needed others to elevate and create for him. Excuses may be fine for a rookie, but this is year three for the first overall pick. Not looking good so far.
    • I think the worst issue is coaching. Countless bad snaps, XL not getting his feet in or trying on runs plays, our centre being down field when he didn't need to be. All seem to be from poor coaching for me. I believe Canales is to soft to rip the players a new one when the fug up. Plus I honestly believe that Canales is slow getting his plays in giving Bryce less time to diagnose and adjust to the defence. Don't worry I could of head butted Bryce for that fumble and the 4th down throw aways but the other plays are explainable to me
