Schefter: CBA Meeting for Today Canceled, JR Rubbing People Wrong Way

How would you feel if you started a business and your employees wanted 50% of what your company makes? You'd tell them to eat your sh**.

In many professions absolutely... and even more. At my last firm employee salaries were over 50% of total revenue.

We aren't talking about accounting graduates from UNCW here

When did JR try to dissolve the player's union?

Everything we have heard is that JR is a GREAT owner to work for. There is no evidence the players would hold anything related to the CBA against him.

Anyway, ESPN has an article on this that doesn't mention JR at all:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6107737

No one besides some aledged report by a poster lists richardson. anyone thinking JR is stupid, cheap, or trying to sabatage anything is a flat out moron. There isn't a word strong enough for how stupid those people are.

JR is right, the deal sucks ass and if it means locking their asses out so be it. when this is all said and done, JR will have a ton of cap room, great picks and WILL spend in free agency and have more room to do so than other owners. This team will will turn around quickly once a CBA is in place

JR says he is a player of the game, but he sure doesn't act like he ever was. He doesn't act like a fan either. he can say what he wants all day long but look at what he is doing, actions speak louder than words. The CBA is a compromise, not some 'oh well if we don't have it our way then we all quit, so be it" type attitude. Sounds like a big baby to me, they need to start negotiating and stop all the childish bullpoo. JR isn't playing a role, he doesn't have master plan, its no secret. What you see is what you get, fans will always be homers of their owner, they will make excuses for anything but imagine him owning a different team this huddle would tear him apart. 50% going to employees is actually pretty accurate, and this is not like all other corporations. There are millions of health risks that go with being a player. Bottom line is they are both greedy but the owners fail to recognize it if you try to define these immature actions.

On Mike and Mike, said people are becoming leery of JR and he's rubbing people the wrong way. Suggested he may be part of the reason this meeting was canceled today could be because of JR, said he didn't want to single him out, but his name keeps coming up.

Saying it looks very bleak, especially considering they can't even get along enough to have another meeting today.

I gotta believe at least some of this is posturing.

As to Richardson, we have no real idea what's going on there and Schefter isn't exactly the world's most reliable source. I'll say this though. It's not unusual for a group that's taking part in negotiations to have a "designated a--hole" who's willing to say the stuff that others might be thinking. Afterward of course, they can all go back and say "hey, it wasn't me that said that stuff; it was that guy" :sosp:

Given the kinds of things he's said before, I have a feeling Richardson has no problem playing that role.

That's crazy that you say that because when me and my buddies go out or need to tell someone something they won't want to hear, I'm always the designated asshole. If the shoe fits, I suppose.

You say to "lock their asses out", but I think if JR was the main reason for a lockout, it would be awfully hard to convince free agents to come here. Yea, we'll have tons of money, but it does no good when potential free agents dont like the owner. That's the way I see it, but I dont know. Either way, I dont see this turning out good for us...

    • It's also worth noting that Cam himself said that he felt safer when running vs. sitting in the pocket because he could see the contact coming and could better prepare for it. A QB running the ball doesn't have to be a sledgehammer. He just has to be effective.
    • That Falcons game is about as good as it gets. Especially on the road. I know the Falcons defense was bad but he was cooking with Coker, an undrafted rookie get the bulk of the receptions. If your QB has 5 TDs and 0 turnovers he is playing like a top QB, yardage be damned. The big question for me is how consistently can be play the whole season?  I don’t expect a game like that every week, but I also don’t want to see any performances like the pre benching or that Cowboys game (which was bad post benching). Bryce’s best shot at being the guy is becoming a mini-Burrow who is about as consistent as you can get at the QB position.  The good news is this QB class should be a fun one. So hopefully Bryce becomes the guy, if not it’s a nice class to let DC pick his QB and they should come into a great situation with a good OL, RB, young talented WRs etc…
    • Bryce Young is far less risky with his body when he runs than Richardson and doesn’t take many unnecessary big hits. Was much more worried about injury when he had that abysmal OL his rookie season than I ever would be when he runs/scrambles. 500/10 seems like a fairly reasonable prediction considering he had 250/6 in 12 starts last season. Of course literally anybody CAN get hurt, it’s just that we were assured by many huddlers that it was a sure thing with Bryce Young that he wouldn’t make it to this point in his career without significant injuries.
