Steve Reed's "State of the Panthers"

Mr. Scot

That offense call's for the QB take mid to long range strike's downfield. Phillip Rivers did'nt do a lot of check down's, but that's Rivers. Finding the right QB, or coaching one up to run it should be on the top of the list. We have the tool's at WR in place.

do what? they had the #1 offense in the league. run game was lacking last year beause of injuries and still did a whole lot better than green bay who managed to go to and win the superbowl with a really sucky run game.

the chargers havent had a good running game in like 3 years

the articles on catscratchreader are far more insightful, even with their vast speculation, than these. they go far more into detail and rely on more than the clichés pinched out of hurney's word sphincter. not knocking reed's writings, because it seems he has a hot exclusive here. just saying, if you want to feel more knowledgeable about what the next panthers team will look like, you'd do well to check those out.

zach miller (raiders version) and marcedes lewis are good prospects, though.

looks like Miller stays in Oakland

Though the San Francisco Chronicle has reported that Richard Seymour will be slapped with the franchise tag, NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora expects the Raiders to use the tag on TE Zach Miller. The Chronicle and LaCanfora are both citing sources. The Raiders may end up using both the franchise and the transition tag. If they do plan to franchise Miller, there's a good chance they will lock up Seymour to a long-term deal. Miller, the most valuable member of the Oakland passing game, just turned 25 years old after four years in the NFL. It would be far less expensive to franchise a tight end than a defensive end

    • This whole thing is sooooooooo dumb, why any of this is an ongoing news story is ridiculous. There are only 2 people who should actually care about this, his wife and her husband. Affairs happen, not that I'm saying it's okay to cheat, but at worst, the only "bad thing" that could be coming around from this affair is that information was passed between them, the same type of info that any coach and journalist who are friends may share with each other to help the other out. The Patriots shouldn't care as long as it doesn't affect his focus on the team.  And those saying that he's lost the locker room and their respect over the "lying" have to be fooling themselves.  Half the players in that locker room are more than likely actively or previously have cheated on their significant other.  So it's not like they're looking at him saying, "what a liar and terrible person, I can't trust him as my coach anymore"
    • Seriously?!?! First SNF game of the year and it's two teams that didn't make the playoffs last year? I thought they always made that Week 1 SNF game a banger with two great teams from the previous season. EDIT:  Just looked, last year was Bills-Ravens, previous season was Lions-Rams, Giants-Cowboys ironically before that (but both coming off the playoffs).  From what I can tell, this will be the first time since 2020 that SNF's week 1 game isn't 2 teams from the playoffs the year before, and the Cowboys were in that one too, against the Rams who also didn't make it the year before.
