Strong Words from Yas

We would all love to believe that Fox had no idea how to coach young players and didn't game plan around Clausen. That would be sweet.

But when Rivera can't do anything with Clausen and Fox finds success in Denver, maybe we will all admit that the QB is our biggest need and move along.

Maybe

Give up, Rock. You are arguing with people who claim to be experts at mediocrity and sucking. They now have a sports writer to lead them. Ineffective play at QB (Moore and Clausen) might be systemic. He never singled out the reasons, but some hear what they choose to hear. Besides, if he were a talent evaluator, he would have a better job too. If Clausen comes out in 2011 or 2012 firing on all cylinders, I expect a few usernames and avatars will get changed.

I believe his point was that when the Oline is "Healthy" they are a strong and very good unit. We need a RG in FA.....and then to bolster the depth.

We do have three outstanding backs....set there.

If the QB play is elevated, the combination of Smith, LaFell, and Gettis can definitely get it done at a high level.

His comment was merely pointing out that it does not matter what happens at RB, OL, and WR....if the QB play is not elevated we will continue to lose.

He is not saying that we should stand pat at WR or Ol....just that QB MUST be addressed. And he is correct.

Why is it so easy to pick out the Clausen 'nad-handlers in these threads?

If you say so. For myself, anyone that has the stones to publicly say that the O-Line was fine in the 2010 season needs to have their "Football 101" badge revoked (including any commentators)

I agree with the O-line play, I am not a Clausen fan but there were plenty of times the guy didn't have the time to drop back and even try and make a play. They also had a hard time opening holes for any of our backs, so the O-line play was less than average for me last year. We go with what we have this year, hopefully we get a vet QB to compete and tutor Jimmy and Otah comes back healthy.

Steve Smith is over the hill and got outplayed by two rookie WRs.

Steve looked fine when he had a competent QB in there. Do the numbers. They are as good with Moore as they were with Clausen...only Moore had him for 5 games and the Jim for 10. I'd say he's got something left if he's got a QB that isn't scared of him.

Still crossing my fingers that Jim will grow a pair this offseason and mature into a real life NFL QB and show all of you haterz out there wrong :p

It's as easy to pick out the Clausen "'nad-handlers" as it is to pick out the Cam "'nad-handlers" in a thread.

See below.

I'm glad to see that Newton is being talked about in the media now as a legit prospect for us. Here's to hoping Hurney pulls the trigger on him.

Right on time.

The o-line did suck with poor play and injuries. But both Moore and Clausen did them few favors. If the defense knows you can't handle pressure and fold under a blitz what are they going to do all day? You stop blitzes by making the defense pay when they run it. Neither of our guys did much to handle it at all.

So yeah the quarterback needs to take some of the blame as well.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
