I kinda hate getting our pick spoiled but at least the Huddle has more Time to debate

Also I'm pretty sure the Panthers are in the majority of teams that have Loveland higher on their board.

I've said from the start that if Walker is there he's the pick.

Still on that train of thought and have gotten nothing that would change that way of thinking.

our biggest need is still developing and answering the QB question.

True. But this idea that we need to go balls out dedicate all resources to offense to figure that out is just wrong. And I'm pretty sure the team feels the same way.

Bryce is going to have to learn to run Canales offense or be shown the door.

That's dumb though.   It just means you have a HC that won't/can't adjust to win.  That's dinosaur behavior.

and it also means, you should of just moved on from Bryce Young last year and this whole thing is just going to be a waste of time.   Bryce Young just flat out doesn't fit that mold of QB play.

I personally don't think Canales is that bad and stubborn.  I think going into last season he basically conceded they would move on from Bryce.  But now?  Well, now he has a job to do.   Best plan of action is to continue down the path of him being a QB guru.....not an old head stuck to football has to be played one way.

Did you see who they signed to start at TE??? Tremble was signed to start at TE. Lol

He doesn't value the TE and he expects his QB's to be able to throw to the numbers. Which is what Bryce is going to be expected to do.

well, it's not balls out.....to address the fact all we got over the middle of the field is slow AT.

I'm sure the old slow guy that was about to retire after last year and missed 7 games....is a poor bet to make going forward.    Cupboard is pretty bare in terms of guys who fit the bill of getting the ball out quick to.

I don't like Bryce.  But I have said since the day we drafted him....you got to get him receiving talent otu of the backfield and slot/TE play.  Otherwise, what's the real point.

All TEs on the roster aren't supposed to lean toward recieving weapons.  I got no issue with Tremble.  But he is what he is.   Tremble is there to aid w/ the run game.

Panthers spent a trillion dollars all things considered on Bryce Young.  Last year they got a surprise from him.  Worst thing they can do is stick with square peg/round hole mindset that Bryce has to fit something no one would ever have argued he would/should be in.

So I'm sticking w/ my same position.  You got to greatly improve at two spots at Bryce is your QB.  Middle of the field and out of the backfield.  The short pass game.  If you weren't interested in that.....then you should of never of drafted Bryce Young let alone given up the farm for him.  And majority of the people at BOA signed up for the Bryce Young project.

He is the only sure thing that could be available at 8 and could be BPA.

It's a no brainer

Most mocks have Warren going to the Colts at #14.  Where someone is drafted and where they are ranked on a Big Board can be, and often are, not the same. Here is Klatt's opinion on this with the Colts pick.  Something I was saying to another poster earlier this morning and then I just ran across this video a short time ago.

if Bryce Young is going to be your QB......the O simply has to cater to what he does well and doesn't.

What Canales did in Tampa and Seattle isn't Bryce Young.   It was home run football downfield.

During that last stretch Young was one of the best deep ball QBs in the NFL.  He was running DC's offense and it was looking great despite needing some more weapons.

Our offense devalues the TE, so why take one early when he isn't going to be used as a weapon?

You are right on that, but offense schemes need to evolve with talent on field. I would like to see if Sanders can develop as well......I just think having a TE who can read defensive zone coverages for pockets AND can body 1 on 1 defenders is invaluable for an offense.

Bryce wasn't even cracking an average of 200 yards per game in regulation to close out the year.  We were 30th in passing yards on the season.

He made great strides vs his rookie year.  Glaring change.  But that was glaring simply because of how historically bad his rookie year was.  We are still a bad passing offense.  2024 was a bad passing O.

I'm not buying whatever stat twisting was done to come up w/ Bryce was one of the best deep passers in the league.

I still think it's simple.  You want Bryce to succeed? You need pass catchers out of the backfield.   You need slot/TE play.  You need YAC.  You need him to be what you drafted him to be.  We were way below average in terms of production out of the backfield.  We were way below average in terms of YAC.   Dreaming up we can somehow make Bryce some chunk play passer downfield is not something worth bothering with.

Trade him if you don't want build around the dude you mortgaged our future on.  Keep him and play to his strengths.  I don't care which one.  But pick.  I give them a pass going into last year of things conflicting.   Now you got to pick IMO.

Bryce needs much better slot/middle of the field and backfield receivers.  That's basically his game.

I still say XL was picked back when 99% thought we were moving on from Bryce Young in short order.  XL fits what Canales did in Seattle and Tampa.   Still need that role in any offense but all the bread and butter Bryce throws need upgrades.

Great point. This offense isn't fixed by any means and with the lack of proven weapons at the TE position we have I say keep firing. When a team has a legit TE threat it's changes the game. It just does.

Now is Sanders that guy idk I hope so! but it isn't Tremble sooooo?

    • If you are an athlete or former athlete (myself?  Cornhole 2021-present; Disc Golf 2013-got a mega blister and had to retire; speed walking--every black Friday at Walmart 2003-2009) you know what it is to lose confidence.  Self-inflicted or not (in my view, a lot of 2023 was coaching and a lot of 2024 was confidence), he has confidence now. How fragile is it?  I think the light is on, the game slowed down, and he is ready to do his thing.  He seems to be "mobile in the pocket" instead of "running scared."   Last year, there were times when AT was out, Johnson gone, and all he really had was XL and Coker--a raw rookie with upside and an UDFA rookie.  TE was rarely a viable option. It reminded me of Benjamin and Funchess.   Moore had to step up.  This season, Bryce has weapons.  I expect XL to improve.  I expect TMac to help tremendously, and I think Coker will be solid.  Renfrow?  Horn?  bonuses.
    • His points are valid.  However, it seems a bit based on past performance and fails to take into consideration trends and conditions that might suggest growth in 2025.   For one, he breaks the team down by position and ranks them separately.  I guess that is a fair way to do it, but they are dependent upon each other. Last year, our DL sucked.  That impacts the rest of the defense.  With no internal pressure, the QBs simply step up to avoid the Edge rush.  I would have suggested that the internal DL is now featuring pass rushers and large people who can collapse the pocket.  Secondly, the LBs were not protected very well in 2024.  It is hard to see the holes and step up when a guard is in your earhole a second after the snap.  Finally, the defensive backs will be forced to make fewer tackles and they will be better in pass protection with a new and improved DL.    Canales made an interesting comment the other day, and I (from the outside looking in) feel the same way:  (paraphrasing) "I have never seen a better group of rookies."   I think the biggest concern is the learning curve.  How long before these rookies are ready?   I am bullish on this team.  I think they win 3 of their first 4 and get confident.  The get the fans behind them.  From there, they win 6 of the remaining 13.  If they stay injury free, they have an outside shot at the NFC south.
    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
