You’re on the clock

It’s pick 8, nobody is trying to trade up and you’re forced to make a pick.

The board has fallen like this:

#1- Cam Ward

#2- Travis Hunter

#3- Abdul Carter

#4- Will Campbell

#5- Ashton Jeanty

#6- Mason Graham

#7- Armand Membou

Who do you draft and why?

Membou, then Ez and then I don't care because I won't belive in them until they prove something anyways. So in this case it's EZ and mark off edge from the need list.

There is a huge chance I will be making fun of whoever they take if they stay at 8. Just like their first 2 picks from last year.

Jalon Walker. I'd go Mike Green if not for the off-field issues.

Exactly Mike Green would be an amazing pick if he didn’t have all the off the field issues. Dude is a true pass rusher, gonna put up 10+ sacks yearly in his prime.

I probably take Jalon Walker but not before putting a lot of thought into Tyler Warren and Tet McMillan...

Exactly, I feel like 8 is one of the hardest picks in the draft. There’s no clear cut BPA, rather an abundance of similarly talented players at different positions.

Just got a trust your scouting. When it's all said and done there will end up being a lot of variance on the field in the NFL between all these similarly graded prospects.

The scary part for Panthers fans is our recent history of abject scouting failures.

Yeah very well said, I think the reports coming out that we’re looking to trade back reflects some internal conflict on who we should draft. Call me crazy but I don’t think Jalon is a lock at 8, I think they have a multitude of guys with near identical grades.

Trade:

Indy wants Warren and they fear a few teams before them.  So I found a trade calculator and did this:

So I get 14, 45, 80.  for 8, 111, 114, and 163.

Panthers move back to 14, have 2 second rounders (45, 57), and two third rounders (74, 80)-five picks on days 1 and 2.

I like it, what positions would you be targeting between the first two rounds?

Honestly, probably so. I could see Walker being the prospect with the most support but far from the consensus.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
