REPORT: Panthers attempting to move up in the 2nd round

Recommended Posts

Yep - others mentioned it but just slapping on one of our 4ths gets us at best to the mid/late 40s.

Add just one of our (3) 5ths, that's early 40s for 57+114+140, we keep our high 3rd in tact.

An interesting one is CLE with pick 36.   They've already got 33, 67, and also have a later 3rd at 99.

36+99 is 665 on charts

our 57+74+114+140 is near equal value.  So that's reducing our overall picks down to 7, but still, nice.

So could move wayy up in the 2nd, back in the third, and you're giving up one of our 4ths, one of our 5ths.

Just floating ideas

Will Johnson, Mike Green (eh), Nick Emmanwori, Donvoan EZ, Shavon Revel, Carson Schwesinger

Feel like any of those guys could/should be targets. I'm partial to any of the guys with a hard to pronounce name.

Mike green is the guy. Please take him.

Draft Mike Green.  That guy is a future star

I won't be surprised if Mike Green drops way hard in this draft because of the off field concerns. I think he ends up being drafted but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he ends tonight not having heard his name being called.

i thought the Panthers were currently in a rebuild ?&so why is it they are still attempting to trade up like they are only one or two players away for need/fit edge rusher ?

it really makes no sense for a rebuild team to do this ?

I guess the Panthers honestly think they have a chance to make the playoffs this upcoming  season ?   & will be picking in the latter part of the next year's draft  .if they do trade up intto the top (32-43) of the 2nd round in order to draft an edge rusher it will most defenitely require picks from next year's draft

The Panthers don't think they are a rebuilding team.

we are in the forever rebuild that isn't a rebuild.  They have been clear on that.

    • I'm not to sure it's a solid argument to try to estimate what he will do this season, BUT he's had a solid 3 years in the league. Here's his numbers compared to Jewell's for the same time period. I can see the logic of getting a starting MLB for a (at best) WR4. AT, XL and Tmac are certainly our top 3 guys IN 2025. Certainly worth pondering.
    • Training camp just started and it's already starting... https://www.facebook.com/reel/24277303321904901/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v LOL No one believes you and you have fan pages sharing this with a "Play him or trade him" headline. Oh wee mayne. This is why no front offices wanted any part of this.
    • Honestly, it only makes sense if you're trying to chase being the best bad team you can be this year. The number one question we need answered this season is whether or not Bryce is our long-term franchise QB. Trading away a second year WR who was second on the team in catch percentage, first in yards per target, and who clearly outplayed your 1st round pick for a likely one year rental fill in LB is exactly the type of short sighted desperation moves that has made us the worst franchise in the league under Tepper. We gotta stop making these types of moves and just focus on building a good organization and a good roster. Lloyd is a JAG LB another bad team and awful defense is wavering on and a couple of Panthers fans are salivating over him. Oof. We just need to be patient and wait. Definitely make some calls around the league to teams deep at LB and see if there's an opportunity to add one for a late round pick. Definitely shop the waiver wire hard. The reality is that LB is almost certainly going to be a weakness for us this year. We weren't fixing our entire roster in one off-season and we're not fixing an overall weak positional group in late July.  If you trade for Lloyd LB is still a weakness and you've given up a young promising WR who could potentially help you answer the question of whether or not Bryce is that guy. That's bad football business.
