Similar in that both did dumb sh-t, but entirely different versions of sh-t.

This. Both were dumb and disrespectful of the pre-draft process in different ways. You're going on job interviews for potentially massive multi-million dollar gigs. Don't go out and get hammered the night before and if they send you a sampling of the playbook put in some time to get to know it.

Pats traded randy moss to aquire Ryan Mallett.  Insane. Guess Mel Kiper was right. NFL doesn't know how to evaluate quarterbacks

Mel Kiper's long illustrious history would also indicate that neither does Mel Kiper. It's almost like this poo isn't an exact science or something and that there's a lot of different variables that go into whether or not a guy is successful. It's just that according to Mel Kiper, everyone else is an idiot and he's perfect. LOL

I mean it's not that insane.  Moss' best days were behind him and he wanted a new contract.  They acquired Randy Moss for a 4th rounder, and then got a 3rd from Minnesota when they were done with him.

This isn't exactly true considering Moss put up THE BEST SEASON OF HIS CAREER THAT YEAR.

Moss just didn't play hard for losers.

The Sanders family's problem is that they raised Shedeur to have the exact same mindset and persona as Deion, and then used Deion as the example as to why it's not a problem.  Even in that public interview at the combine, he gave some answer like, "do you know who my dad was and the things they said about him and he was still a HOFer?"

The problem is his dad was a CB and sometimes a WR, the two positions in the NFL where not only nobody cares if you have that outward persona, in many cases it's something teams look for because WRs and CBs need to have that mentality out there on an island.

His interview answer that's been going around about where you see yourself in 5 years, and his response of being Mayor of that town and laughing is a perfect example of it.

There is no issue if that's your QB's mentality, we all know how Cam was.  The problem is there is a different between mentality and outward persona, and that just flat out doesn't work for a QB to have that persona, Cam didn't even do it.

There are a lot of QB's who have that mindset, in particular, Burrow right now strikes me as that kind of guy.  But he still knows how to flip that QB Switch and tones it back when speaking publicly and is able to be the face of the franchise.

Shedeur and Deion never seemed to grasp that for some reason, and it's a problem.

Have you ever heard reports of GM's being asked by defensive players on their team to draft a QB solely because they wanted to crush them in practice?

That's wild to even think of, let alone hear about actually happening.  QB is unlike any position in all of sports, whether fair or not, you have to act differently when speaking in public or on camera, and Shedeur just doesn't, if anything, he leans even more into his Deion like persona.

Have people forgot his Clausen rant??? Including himself?? I get its been perfectly fine to lie over the years without judgement.

"In 2010, Mel Kiper Jr. stated that he would retire if Jimmy Clausen didn't become a successful NFL quarterback within eight years."

So mel gets to stay on for SEVEN years after the fact, the deal is Clausen was out of the league in 2015.......Mel stays on after stating on TV he'd retire if teh jimmy wasn't successful, then calls out the NFL for not being able to draft QBs??

I swear some people are allowed to get away with BS.....

I think it was Blaine Gabbert over Cam, Bortles was a different class. Many had Locker and Gabbert over Cam.

I can imagine meeting Cam and then putting Gabbert or Locker or any QB from that class above him.

    • Bros, let's get something straight. Kooch is playing fine. Real rough first period, but that was a team failure. We had like, what, 11 turnovers that period? Struggled on the dot? Allowed some pretty clean looks at net from good angles?  Kooch is young. Hasek, Vasilevsky, Lundquist. All had early critics and struggles. Each are considered all time greats. Not to say Kochetkov definitely will blossom into that, but Freddie has spoiled this fan base.
    • I probably predicted about 30 players over time--I found it increases your odds.  When I heard Morgan say that Canales wanted a tall receiver, I think we all would have known TMac was the pick.  I do believe that Morgan pooped a little when Xavier Legette decided to go public and tell the media that he was told he'd be the Panthers pick.
    • Someone else had the same thought, what's his contract situation with New Jersey ?, but he would probably want to be the #1
