Fitzgerald was thought to be a potential Day 3 pick after a stellar senior year at Florida State. He converted all 13 of his field goal tries with a 100% conversion rate that led all FBS kickers with at least 12 attempts. Fitzgerald was also perfect on his 14 extra points. He will compete with Matthew Wright for the Panthers’ kicking job in training camp.

Harrison-Hunte went undrafted despite a strong showing at the Combine. He’s an older prospect who will turn 25 by the start of his rookie year, but he had just one season of sustained production at SMU after five years at Miami. Still, he earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2024 with 8.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks and will push for a roster spot in Carolina as an athletic interior disruptor.

The Panthers were aggressive in bringing in some of these rookies who just slipped out of the draft. Two of the cornerbacks, Thornton and Reid, received increased guarantees on their deals to ensure they sign. Thornton’s contract included $150K in guaranteed money, per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, while Reid’s deal contained $100K. George, the former Hurricanes receiver, was perhaps the most sought-after of Carolina’s signees. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network tells us that he received $215K in guaranteed money to sign with the Panthers, which is more in guarantees than he would’ve received had he got drafted in the sixth round

The bottom of the roster was horrible in 2024.

I see 2 winnable spots at CB  behind Horn, Jackson, Smith-Wade.  Evans and Bartholomew were on the roster at the end of the season and will have to defend their spots from Broughton, Thornton and Reid. (I like Reid)

I see a safety spot going to an UDFA.  We have three in the mix--don't sleep on Jack Henderson.

Martin-Scott and Nomura have shots at LB. 

Fitzgerald is probably our next kicker

Tarquin could be kept to develop RT dept moving forward post Moton

I will predict that 4 UDFAs from this list make the roster if it stays pretty much the same.  It is a good group.

339. WR Moose Muhammad III, Texas A&M

Muhammad, the son of former NFL wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad II, is adept at using his body to keep coverage defenders away from the ball. He generated a 119.8 passer rating when targeted in 2024, ranking 25th in the draft class.

255. WR Kobe Hudson, UCF

Hudson brings point guard-like movement to the receiver position and makes for a fun watch due to his short-area quickness. But his limited long speed and questionable catch rate likely make him a mid-round projection.

183. DI Jared Harrison-Hunte, SMU

Harrison-Hunte is an intriguing prospect to develop, considering he has the frame to fill out and flashes very good athleticism (4.86-second 40-yard dash, 1.69-second 10-yard split). He needs to improve his pad level, but he uses his athleticism effectively to defeat blocks at the line of scrimmage, posting 44 pressures with eight sacks in 2024.

171. G Luke Kandra, Cincinnati

Kandra's athleticism and measured approach to the game give him the floor of a solid zone scheme backup and an average starter's ceiling. The end result will depend on his ability to play with better pad level and flexibility.

the result of rapid fire coaching changes and resulting scheme changes.  Riverboat, Reich and Rhule.  We started fresh with Canales and Morgan, and they had about 3 pieces to the future, and 2 have dealt with significant injuries.

However, watching the interviews with our draftees, you can tell their is a culture building campaign happening and I like it a lot.  We will improve more than many of us think next year, and another good draft should give us a good chance to win the division.

He's the one they were saying was standing out at mini camp this weekend, right? I remember them talking about a player whose name I didn't recognize. I'm pretty sure it was him.

I agree. You can see certain characteristics being similar in these players. They are definitely putting value of players characters and not just their football skills and athleticisms. As Morgan says, players who love the game.

Harrison-Hunte was stuck as a 4-3 DT at Miami. His game never really fit that spot, not sure what front they ran at SMU. 3-4 End is the right spot for him. With Brown, Wharton, and Robinson at that spot, maybe he can compete with LaBryan Ray and Crumedy for the depth role.

Unless its 2021 renfrow, Moore is 30, jimmy horn was picked 208 in a weak draft.... I mean they just rid of Clowney cause of number of snaps, so Moore could follow that. NFL is unforgiving missing a full year and deal with disease is very hard to over come. 

The only locks are- Tmac, XL, AT. Coker is close, but if he shows up in poor shape, he could be cut. 

If horn wins the 5th, all George has to do is show he's more valuable than the listed above. renfrow could be a PS guy as he continues to get back in NFL shape. Moore has been on like 8 teams and just a fine fit with the Dave system. 

I mean for the first time in I don't know when, there is a real battle to make the #4-#6 WR room. It's good to cut good players... 

Lastly who knows, one or two injuries hit and George easily makes the 53. I got him currently as the #6. 4 others are right there too, I heard Dave say Kobe Hudson name during a presser. He's in the mix too.

If we can have 4 good ones at the top of the roster (I see Coker as a lock--along with TMac, AT, and XL) the bottom two should be developmental players, one with special teams skills.  That is how I would develop it. The bottom two?  Depends on special teams, as you know.  I am not confident Renfrow makes the team but I sorta want him to--we are very young at WR and two veterans would balance the inexperience.  I see Horn making it (special teams/WR), but I also see George or Hudson having a good camp and making the team.  Moore?  If Renfrow does not make it, I feel that Moore will be #5.  Horn is the front runner for #6 (special teams).  If George and Hudson go to the PS and can develop for a season, in 2026 AT and maybe Moore/Renfrow will be gone.  One or both could step up.  This is in an ideal world, of course.

 

But to have 2 developing WRs on the PS

I tend to look at all of these guys and wonder how committed they are to doing special teams? It's a big deal when you're fighting for roster spots. And we need massive refreshes to all phases of the special teams game.

And the idea that four or five of these players could see rotational use outside of special teams would be a win. This team has accumulated quite a bit of dead wood over the last five years and its time to take an axe to some of it. These new fellows have a shot to benefit from that if they can really push.

That being said, wow that receivers room is crowded right now. I'm not sure if I was a vet player with more than 2 years experience other than Adam Thielen if I'd be too sure of my future here. Tet is guaranteed a spot, Coker earned his for sure and they aren't done with XL developing yet. That's only two to three spots left for the entire room. It's going to be very competitive and better for Bryce's future, too.

Safety and linebacker are the opportunity spots here this season. There's room for the right guy and we may see a starter eventually from one of these UDFAs, either by merit or injury.

Yep. And I hate that we'll go with a default starter at Safety and possibly at ILB. I would have much rather doubled down on Safeties in the 4th and had a plan going forward. Feels like they're just hoping it works itself out.
