Surprised they aren't on Hendrickson, although they may only be after younger players.

That "cap space" is also a bit misleading since the article also says they're already over the cap for next year.

So that cap space they have this year is really likely going to be rolled over into next year so they don't have to purge contracts to get under the cap.  While they also have to re-sign Gonzales to a new deal next offseason as well which will need cap space that they don't currently have.

But they are in the same boat as us in terms of Hendrickson, just doesn't make sense to give up a high pick, players, and a big contract unless you're in a SB window this season.

I don't think they are in quite the same scenario because they are broadcasting that they are looking to move draft picks.

That's wild considering their position but if it leads to long term ruin for them, I will be quite happen to see it.

fug the Pats and their shitbird fans.

Sure, but they made a general comment, not necessarily about Hendrickson, which is where I think they're in the same position as us.

If they were to try and make a deal for Parsons or McLaurin, that would make more sense for a comment like this.  McLaurin would be great for the development of Maye and Parsons would be a big help to their defense that is lacking pass rushers.

I don't think a team like them should try to trade for Parsons, that really should only be something contending teams consider.  But with their lack of pass rushers, it makes much more sense than someone like us, who even though we don't have great ones, we just used a 2nd and 3rd rounder on two very promising ones and I'd rather play that out than give up the assets/contract for Parsons.

I think they are just broadcasting "open for business" to see what comes to their doorstep. It's an interesting move.

If they had SPECIFIC players in mind, they would have just contacted those teams directly.

Honestly, Bryce would be in the same situation if not for the improved play over the last 10 games last season. He was skating on some thin ice.

I honestly think it's a dumb approach. I mean, I get it from a front office/coaching standpoint but from a fan's perspective just wanting an organization to get back to winning ways bringing in a veteran fringe starter type is just purgatory. Yeah, it might buy the GM and/or coach another year which is their focus but it just keeps the overall organization stuck in the mud. This isn't a Jake Delhomme situation where this guy just hasn't had an opportunity yet. There's plenty of film on Daniel Jones as a starter and very little of it is good. If I was a Colts fan I'd have the same wish for them as I do the Panthers. We need to ride or die with this young QB. Either let him develop and show us he's the one or let him suck us to a high pick.

Yep. It’s why I was hoping we’d let Matt Corral drive the boat back in 2022. Let the young QB float or sink. If they float, you may have the answer. If they sink, you’ve got a top 3 pick so you can get your QB without having to give up the farm. The fact that Fitterer was looking at Young for 2 years means we knew we were going rookie QB in 2023 but we still did it so wrong.

    • I'm OK with picking up the 5th year option (mostly because there aren't any clear long-term better options likely to be available in the offseason) but I need to see a lot more consistency before I'd support a full-on contract extension.
    • Yall are a little unrealistic. This is the first time in his 3 years that this QB has had a roster they could actuallyt win with - and we're in the playoffs. No one to throw to and the worst interior oline this franchise has ever fielded as a rookie. Defense was meh but would get worse. Second season Derrick Brown gets injured for the year in the first game and we march out the worst run defense (and possibly overall defense) in the history of the NFL. So many on here talking about an average QB would have this team with 12+ wins. You're delusional. How many games would we have won last season with just an average defense? KC, Philly and the first TB games off the top of my head. And that's with Thielen as your best receiver, rookie XL and rookie Coker. David Moore was the second best receiver last season. David Moore. This season the defense has improved but we're lining up too many rookies to make it to the playoffs on both sides of the ball, yet here we are. I ain't saying Bryce Young is the answer, but he has been a big part of some big wins this season. I'm hopeful that we'll see improvement when he has more time with this very young receiving corp. Remember, they're learnig how to be pros at the same time as we're going to the playoffs. The only veteran receiving  presence we've had this year is Tommy Tremble. We could actually see big improvement if David Moore comes back healthy. And that is saying alot.
    • Dowdle was fresh and it was early in  the year. It gets more difficult later in the year when teams improve, gel and get in their grooves. Hunt being out also plays into it but then when was the last time the Panthers adjusted well with personnel? Morris did some good but the QB situation was enough to sink both him and the GM. I'm more on the 'if they played Cousins they could have won the division this year' side. It would have been ugly but it was really low hanging fruit. Penix getting g I injured again and losing the division by a game was enough to know he isn't the guy IMO. 2 years is the standard and he still falls on the wrong side. Im surprised Lovie is back. I have zero faith he can build up any team. Did a decent job maintaining someone else's build but how he handled this year vs the last 2 was enough to give him a pink slip IMO.
