Gruden's NFCS breakdown.

Jon Gruden has an entertaining delivery. You won't see vids, but you will here his review, and he will take you to the whiteboard on occasion. He's not really committing to any prognostications, but he loves the O-line, expects a lot from the run game, and is decidedly optimistic about Bryce. He likes the defensive acquisitions that we have made in order to fix a terrible defense.

If you're only interested in the Panthers, then go to 41:35.

Pretty positive take on the Panthers by Gruden. Off-topic and maybe controversial take: I think the NFL did Gruden dirty, ending his career based on an (admittiedly offensive) email from a decade ago. How many other coaches and team owners have said worse things in their private emails? We'll never know.

I can't remember what he did to get blackballed for a while--I don't think he is a racist, however, based on Brandon Parker from NC A&T, a guy Gruden picked in the 3rd round.  He is a son of a friend of mine, and they said Gruden was a solid guy--fwiw.

He literally coached football with majority of the roster being a minority. If he were racist, as was proclaimed, he wouldn't have made it as far as he did. He made comments that, if someone of the same melanin count made about the guy, would have been fine. He got to comfortable and said what he felt like saying because he's been one of the guys for what, 30+ years? Then someone leaked it without context, without explanation, and tried to ruin the guys life.

Cancel culture is dead, thank god. I'd love to see Gruden make a come back to television calling games. Thursday Night Football could desperately use him because right now, the broadcast is atrocious,

He will never get another coaching shot, even though he would certainly take it, if it came along. Winning the 1 and only Superbowl with Dungy's team, against his own former team, that reportedly didn't even change their calls, plays and signals, is what it is, I suppose.

There is too much negative associated with him now. Rightfully or not, no one would risk their brand with him anymore.

Gruden is just an awesome football guy, period. Whether in media or as a coach or whatever. Obviously there are plenty of other personalities out there but to me the NFL isn't quite as good without him involved. And yeah I really don't think he's racist or anything, the email thing was such bullshit. There are way way way worse people out there in the NFL with their jobs secure.

A lot of people do like him. Some of us grew up with Gruden as a sort of NFL icon and it wasn't because he won a Super Bowl or anything. It was the Chucky vibe, the intensity, the knowledge. He's just a cool dude.

    • I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.
    • Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.
    • Kinda depends how you look at it both were 3rd round draft pics.  Nico was nothing before stroud and tank came in with stroud.  If both were on the panthers would young have them doing well and starting or would their stats be low.  I really dont know the answer to that.  None of the panthers wrs have left and did well either but personally i feel neither of nico or tank would do much on the panthers.
