Worth a watch, listen,  if you have the time

highlights

1. Shuffle on offline do to Lewis’ shoulder strain issue. Had this  been a regular game. Either Mayes or Brady C would’ve started

2 Izik called plays, not canales

3. Young looked great  had it not been for 2 drops, he would’ve been 6 of 6

4. Tet’s drops not a concern.  Another podcast talked about concerns by some about the   lack of separation from Tet…stated. It a concern given Tet’s catch radius

5. Coker makes the team  need a pass caught, Coker is the guy

6. Defense first team showed pressure on qb, praise for the rookies and that they will continue to grow together   Defense was talked about around 2/3s of the way through video if you want to scroll through it   Only mention of Sanders was that he played well.

7. Calm down. It is preseason. It is one month before a game is played   Both teams didn’t have full compliments of starters on the field

lot more was said …in greater detail. ..if u listen

zero YAC from starters.  Still waiting for evidence we can be something other than a low ceiling offense (which is what the Dave O was).

People tripping out over that TMac catch.  It’s was a great catch.  But essentially it is classic Panthers play under Bryce.  A go route opportunity.  Turned out to be fade to the sideline.  Threat of nothing after the catch.  Incomplete or catch given where the ball was placed.

At the end of the day it was one drive.

But word is Canales wants the starters to play 3 series in the next game.

This ^^^^ nothing to wig over or prentend it was perfect....

Did what they were supposed too, as far as YAC goes without Renfrow playing we don't really have any true "creators" go for YAC without running designed YAC plays (which we didn't)

Hats off to Morgan.  Brilliant. Look at what he has done in just 2 years after rounds 1 and 2  of the draft and free agency--All third rounders or lower and UDFAs....

I like what Morgan has done, but let’s not ignore the full context. Having your roster contain this percentage of contributors from the past 2 drafts also speaks to how talent poor we are overall. If our roster were already better, you wouldn’t see this many young players make the roster or if they did, be relied on to contribute in this way.

That’s our identity on offense. At least we found one, only took about a decade. This offense is going to be heavy dose of run game and Bryce trying to throw into a bucket for 1 on 1s. Sprinkle in some quick slants and Bryce improv and that’s us.

You can still throw a legit go route vs 2nd or 3rd stringers.   TMac should be able to go do that and should be testing that stuff out IMO.

Im just saying in test it out world type game which….they didn’t really test much out.  Didn’t learn much.

Thats a good counter point but to counter the counter I would say in previous years the staff couldn’t find a rookie that could even compete with the trash roster we had.

Your point is still very much a valid one tho.

Which is my issue.  It’s not much of an identity paired with a league bottom defense.

It will be interesting to see what Young does, or doesn’t do, this year and the option year decision  cheaper to do it this year than year 4

lot of the podcasters were high on his performance, limited though it was

im keeping an open mind though I just don’t feel he was worth what was paid for him and that’s not his fault and over and done

he is never going to be a Jayden Daniels due to his physical limitations but maybe he can be a very good game manager…who knows.  Surprises do happen in life, some good, some not so good.

They shouldn’t be capped like that.  3 series could be just 1 quarter.

that’s still too light for me given why we are in Carolina. That’s still Dave being too light in the preseason heading in IMO.  Much better teams than us work there guys more

and I think if you look at our starters last night…..you would have to like overall what the Browns 2s and 3d did slightly more against our starters than what our starters did to them

The Browns didnt rest all of their starters on defense let that fallacy drop... much the same way we did they just rested their irreplaceable defenders, it was 7 starters and 4 second stringers, that our ones faced on both drives not 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Play action middle depth routes seemed to be the focus last night, when they were on the field. Apart from on bad pass rep (were we don't know the assignments but Jake and Smitty both seem to believe the scrub Carter blew his assignment) and a slightly under thrown dump off route Bryce had to take on his third read, they moved the ball at will vs them and scored a TD.
