I know it's preseason and just one game but this kid Corey Thornton might just be one of the best UDFAs we've ever had. We've had our share but the CB position is one of the more difficult positions to play in the NFL.

I've heard a little about him but he looks to be the real deal. The body slam on the reverse was sweet and he had a couple of pass defended.

Good find, DM.

This Panthers staff is becoming pretty good at this, probably some secret analytics stuff that helps them identify these gems. Keep it up boys

The best UDFA will always be Andrew Norwell. But yeah, the kid had a helluva first game. Looks like the training camp hype is justified.

Yes, I enjoyed Norwell's time here in Carolina. Also, it is much easier to overlook an offensive lineman than a DB.  How Thornton slipped through 7 rounds is unbelievable but it's great DM and Co. got him to come here.

His workout numbers really hurt him. Teams probably looked at these athleticism measurables and simply saw a guy that they didn't consider an NFL caliber athlete.

Nothing really stands out.  Just another reason why running around in your underwear isn't always the best way to evaluate a player.  Thank God Morgan gave him a shot.   He may never be a Pro Bowler but it's nice to have a little depth on the roster.

His 40 time would've been the slowest CB time at the combine and pro day times are notoriously faster than combine times. His 10 yard split would've been 2nd slowest.

His vertical would've been the tied for 3rd lowest among CBs.

His bench reps would've been the lowest.

His three cone would've been the slowest.

His broad jump would've been tied for 4th shortest.

His shuttle would've been tied for the slowest.

There's no way to sugarcoat it, his pure athleticism measurables are very subpar for an NFL CB. Now we're going to find out if he can overcome that on the field.

I'm happy about the reports out of camp and he had a promising first preseason game but we need to pump the brakes a little bit here. Crowning him possibly the best Panthers UDFA of all-time after one solid preseason game? I mean, c'mon... LOL

I believe I said it was just one preseason game.  What I did say was a UDFA CB is a great find.  You can't always go by measurables.   I also read where he takes coaching very well.

Yeah, so far so good. I hope he keeps it up.

I'm just addressing the bewilderment on how he went undrafted. In terms of pure athleticism measurables, he's a bottom of the barrel athlete for an NFL CB. That has to have played a huge role in him going undrafted.

If Thornton has a Richardson-esque year one, it will be a W. I like him as a 4th CB, but prefer him as a fifth or sixth CB in his rookie year....less pressure.

I really thought based on early TC chatter that Bartholomew would have looked better. It is only preseason, but I hope he shines more in Houston and vs. Pitt.

I do love the bottom of the roster churn that this FO continues to sift through. Coker, Richardson, and now Thornton.
